🙏 A YEAR ON WATCHING JO’S SECOND SHOW….

There’s something truly amazing about watching someone you’ve been through so much with get up on stage.

A shared journey.

The moment is truly something else.

And whilst the result wasn’t what we wanted, there is absolutely no part of me that wasn’t proud.

We’ve been working together for 6 years.

I’ve seen all the highs, all the lows and everything in between.

We’ve done a fair few photoshoots.
Hit the stage twice.

And she’s now 6 months in to working alongside myself and Georgia at Epic.

Throughout the last 6 years I’ve never known her not to give everything to her goals.

The same has been for the last 2 years for competing.

Always giving what she can in moments where quite honestly, 95 percent of people would give up and walk away.

She is an inspiration not only to me but to so many of my clients.

Someone who never gives up.
Always picks herself up and goes again.

And this is no different.

We step back for a moment.
We realise what needs to be done.
And we go again.

I have no doubt that these next few years for Jo as an emerging coach at Epic will be much the same as everything else she’s done and achieved.

Remarkable.

A fantastic friend.
A fabulous coach.

Jo is the definition of Epic.

🤨SHORT AND SWEET TODAY….

The idea of a warm up is to prepare you for the session ahead.

A little stroll on the treadmill.
A 10 minute blast on an x-trainer.

Or using a stair master. 🙄

Is NOT getting you prepared for weight training.

It makes you warm.
There’s a difference.

Warm-up = movement specific.

A treadmill is fine if you’re about to walk.

Benching? Warm up the bench.
Leg press? Warm up the leg press.
RDLs? Warm up the RDL.

2 - 3 sets of lighter and increasing weights at half the reps, working up to the full working weight for the full sets.

This gets your body ready for the movement, warms up the muscles, ligaments and tendons in the patterns you’re about to do.

Stop using a treadmill as the warm up! 🙏

It’s built through 11 years of coaching experience.

Transformations.
Photoshoots.
Strength.

Not sure where this bu****it around weight training being better for fat loss came from?

Technically neither of them is going to do f**k all if you’re not in a deficit anyway.

So no, cardio is not NEEDED for fat loss.

And YES, weight training burns calories to aid fat loss (and technically it will burn more calories at rest when you build it).

But my point is. 👇

If you’re not in a deficit neither will help.

And when you are in a deficit cardio burns calories easier and quicker.

That’s it in a nutshell!

Plus you should be lifting to get strong and build muscle, not worrying about how many f**king calories you burnt in a session! 🙏

Want to get fitter?

Do hybrid/fitness.

Want to improve endurance?

Do endurance training.

Want to burn calories?

Do cardio.

But if your goal is to build muscle, get stronger and change your shape…

You need strength training.
And you NEED progression.

That’s where most go wrong.

They’re doing workouts that make them tired and sweaty.
Not workouts that move them forward.

Using the same weights.
Not tracking lifts.
Changing exercises every week.

Worrying about calorie burn. 🙄

Building muscle and changing your shape isn’t complicated.

Lift.
Track.
Progress.

Then repeat that for months, not weeks.

March the goal to the output. đź’Ş

Always a massive fear.
I get it.

You’ve probably tried things before.

Downloaded plans.
Started diets.
Joined gyms.
Promised yourself “this time will be different.”

The reason this works for so many women isn’t because it’s some magic programme.

It’s because it’s built around the things that actually matter:
