This week (June 13th - 20th) is Drowning Prevention Week, a national campaign led by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) to raise awareness about water safety and help reduce preventable drowning incidents. The campaign focuses on giving children the knowledge, skills, and confidence to stay safe in and around water. To support this, we will be incorporating water safety activities into our swimming sessions this week on Wednesday and Friday.
For these sessions the first 30 minutes of the session will have activities - please ensure swimmers bring:
Lightweight clothing, such as shorts and a t-shirt, suitable for use in the water
Normal swimming wear to be worn underneath
Swimmers should arrive poolside with normal swimming kit on, and clothing on over the top so that they can transition to the normal session after the activities.
These activities are an important and engaging way to help swimmers experience different scenarios and build confidence in a safe, controlled environment.
