The Final Whistle — From Under 7s to Under 8s
The final whistle blew…
And for a moment, everything stood still.
The balls stopped rolling.
The cones were gathered.
The bibs packed away.
Just like that… our first season was over.
One season ago, we were simply a group of kids,
Tiny boots, nervous smiles, endless energy,
Learning names, learning positions,
Learning what it meant to be a team.
And look at us now.
What a journey.
A season that tested me, stretched me, exhausted me.
Early mornings. Late nights. Endless planning.
Worrying if I was doing enough…
Could I give these kids the season they deserved?
Because I didn’t just want football for you.
I wanted memories.
Confidence.
Belief.
Friendships.
Joy.
And somewhere between muddy boots, cold mornings, missed tackles, amazing teamwork, tears, laughter and absolute chaos…
We found it.
You grew.
Not just as players — but as teammates, as friends, as little people finding your courage week by week.
I’m proud beyond words.
People see an Under 7s football team.
I see brave kids who kept trying after mistakes.
I see confidence growing where nerves once lived.
I see smiles after hard games, determination after setbacks, and moments that will stay with me far longer than any scoreline ever could.
This season has been gruelling.
It has taken time, energy, patience, emotion… and every ounce of heart I had to give.
But what I got back from this team?
That’s impossible to measure.
Because you brilliant kids have brought me more joy than you will probably ever know.
So yes… it feels emotional.
Not because we’re finished.
Because we’re not.
Not even close.
This isn’t goodbye to my team. It never will be.
This is simply the closing of an unforgettable first chapter.
The Under 7s story ends here…
But our story doesn’t.
We’ll recharge.
We’ll reset.
We’ll sharpen up those boots.
And then…
We come back.
Under 8s.
Stronger from the lessons.
Braver from the challenges.
Closer because of everything we’ve already been through together.
And if this first season taught us anything…
It’s that this team can do incredible things.
So thank you, my amazing players, families, supporters — thank you for trusting the process, believing in the journey, and making this first season something I will never forget.
The final whistle has blown…
But I already can’t wait for the first whistle of Under 8s.
Because we’re coming back.
Bigger and better.
And we’re only just getting started. ⚽🖤
