Lots of questions about the volume of bike work I’m currently completing.

In a nutshell it’s easy on the joints whilst giving you a big boost of fitness without straining the muscles too heavily which can sometimes be felt from high running volume.

A sustained aerobic power output (Watts) over a period of time is a great way to measure and monitor progress.

I can see from the data by recording my relative heart rates comparatively to how many Watts I am holding giving me a good understanding of how much I can push certain intensities and for how long.

I have reached a level whereby holding 248 Watts for 90 minutes is a very challenging and demanding task for me. It has taken me a good few months to find this level by slightly increasing the Watts on a weekly basis to a point where my heart rate is in threshold for around an hour now. It’s tough mentally too, to keep grinding for that length of time is a hard task to get done in your head.

It’s working for me in terms of transferring into my HYROX performance, it may or may not work for you too…but I’m defo an advocate for this work 👍🏼

You can’t show discipline by turning up on time as our sessions start sharply on the times given on the slides.

Prefer it as a group? Or prefer to go it alone?

Personally I like a blend of both, a mixture of solitude and the camaraderie. To train solo, and more importantly train to the standards you set out to, shows the discipline and builds your mental fortitude. To push to the levels with no one pushing you.

The group setting however gives you that atmosphere, that friendly competitiveness and that banter with your teammates.

Both are great ways to get after your goals in my opinion 💪🏼
