I am off to work… meeting Linda and Wren the spaniel was so much fun! Linda is already an experienced runner herself but wanted to start running adventures with Wren in kit that would be safe and comfortable for them both. Having a 121 session is a great way to try kit and the learn basics for starting your running adventures together.

One of the most important elements of canicross is ensuring you and your dog are safe and in the correct kit. Below are the key pieces of kit your need;

Dog Harness
The harness should ensure that your dog can run without being restricted and is built for comfort and efficiency.

Human harness
The harness is designed to sit on your hips/top of your bottom with adjustable straps. Therefore any pull from the dog will come through the hips, giving a more comfortable run without any jarring to the back.

Running line
A bungee line that attaches the two of you together. This line will help absorb any shock from the pull of your dog.

But before investing in any kit it is a good idea to give it a go - there are lots of different types of kit so booking an intro session means you can try some kit and get some advice.

Exercising with your dog is the perfect way to get fit together. A study* shows that owners who exercise their dogs are 34% more likely than others to be physically fit.

Running with your dog can increase the bond you both share but also has a number of other shared benefits including, improving mood and wellbeing, helps control weight, tones muscles and encourages better sleep/rest! But one of my favourite benefits is that it can save TIME, as you are both vigorously exercising at the same time!

Meet the team!
Anna has been running for years, completing marathons to 5km park runs, so when it came to getting a pet it was a no brainier she would get a running companion to join her on her adventures. Their enjoyment of running together has inspired them to become certified Dogfit Trainers, so they can share the joy of caincross with all their chums!

Hi Chums 🐾
For those of you who don’t know what canicross is, it’s fun hands free running with your human (cause you don’t have hands) 🐶
Your human will wear a special belt, you will wear a special harness (all for the best health and safety of both you and your human), then you will be connected via a bungee line so you can both run really fast 😜
My human is a bit slow so I run to match her🙄
Human will give you commands - like Run! Left! Right! Good boy! And you get treats and pats on the head - I love it!
If you think you and you human will love it get in contact with my human for details on intro sessions and course!
