Wanstead Chantraine Dance A holistic approach to dance: The Dance of Expression. Established in France in 1958 and in the UK since 1978. Classes for all ages and abilities.

Classes after school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for all ages from 4 years: email for full details. Visitors are always welcome to come and see how we work and learn together. Whatever their age and level, each dancer aims to “inhabit” their dance: to give themselves fully so that every step, every gesture, every breath and every look is consciously alive, and nothing is routine or mech

anical. Through the challenges and joys of learning, we train ourselves to focus on recognising what we have liked and what progress we have made, and to transform what is negative into a positive. And always, "What is important is joy!"

It was wonderful to take part again this year in the Redbridge Dance Link Gala - celebrating dance across the borough. Members of the Wanstead branch of the Chantraine School performed choreographies by Françoise Chantraine and Marie-Laure de Blois to music by Vivaldi, Bette Midler, and The Kooks - a taste of the wonderful variety on offer in the Chantraine choreographic repertoire.

Sunday 22 February — Join us for the Chantraine Dance Spring Workshop to discover two choreographies by Françoise Chantraine: “Darkness” to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, and “Totoro” to the music of Joe Hisaishi.

The workshop is open to all ages and abilities and children from 8+ are welcome to join for the afternoon session.
