POUND FOR PINK TO RAISE MONEY FOR BREAST CANCER 🩷🎗️ with Lauren Drinkwater and Sutton Community Dance

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK, with 1 in 7 women being diagnosed in their lifetime and one woman being diagnosed every ten minutes; around 59,000 new diagnoses are made every year. So please check your b***s !

I have always been so proud to run these Pound for Pink events to raise as much money as we can for Breast Cancer Now 🎀
We sweat, smile, wear pink and donate to raise money for this cause. And this year I'm so excited to be collaborating with SCD who have kindly offered their venue for me to hold the class !

A 45 minute Halloween-themed set list with pink fizz and treats offered after the class so hang around if you can!

This week we have been learning about the body and I've been using el esqueleto/le squelette to show the different parts and write them up on the board, then getting the kids to point when I say the word.

JOY OF TEACHING 💜🤩

If you asked me what my two passions were when I graduated they would have been fitness and languages. I'll never regret going into the city and getting into the media industry, but I'm so glad the universe has led me back to these two passions.

I remember the first ever fitness class I taught. Total imposter syndrome. How could I actually instruct others and why would they follow me?? I had the qualifications and tools in place to do it but totally lacked the confidence. Once that first class was over I breathed a huge sigh of relief and thought to myself OMG this is just the best feeling EVER. Not looked back since.🥰

My Grandad ran a ballroom dancing school, was a Come Dancing judge, my Nanna also taught at his school, and my Mum taught Aerobics and was once a ballroom dancing champion herself in her youth. I suppose it was written in the stars really that I would follow this path, swipe for my questionable jazz dance costume as a teen 🤔🤣. Although I would not put myself in their dancing league, I would like to think I have inherited their love of teaching and sharing the joy of movement 💯🤸🏼‍♀️

Life is full on at the moment, with fitness classes, PT, the Autumn Reset, online learning for new qualifications, and teaching six Lingotot French and Spanish clubs a week.
So some days I do feel absolutely shattered but I do it because I feel so grateful to do what I do and to help, teach others and share my absolute passion for movement and languages, I hope to teach in some capacity for the rest of my days!! 🤞🙌

Fun, smiles, happiness and genuine pleasure in what you do...that's all you can ask for in life. That, peace and health👌

Hands up anyone who had to have a difficult conversation with their son this week?

I’m going to be honest here. Raising a son is hard, it’s complex, it’s nuanced, and it’s not a one man or woman job. Putting all the weight on the mother’s shoulders feels unfair and yet all over social media this week, I’ve seen it.We must raise our sons better. To be better than those boys.

I have felt the pressure to get things right with my son from the minute he was born. I must teach him right from wrong. I must teach him to respect others. I must teach him to stand up for himself. The list of “I musts” goes on and on. ‘I’.

And there are so many ways to get it wrong.

We have to admit to ourselves we can’t get everything right in this day and age, but that it’s more important than ever to have open conversations with them. The truth is they can’t predict what kind of a situation they are going to be in any more than we can.

Taking emotions out, it’s about trying to arm them with as many tools as possible to know how to react in adverse situations.

But here’s the thing. If you have a pre-teen or teen, you’ll be painfully aware you are no longer the centre of their universe. They are surrounded by outside influences you can no longer control. This is why raising a boy is not a one man or woman job. It’s not just the mother, the father, the grandparents. It’s the friends, the teachers, the tutors, the coaches, and now an even wider net. It is anyone or anything that enters their daily sphere of interactions.

Please, if you’re a parent currently feeling the intense pressure of getting it right - trust me that we are living in a wilderness, and it is nigh on impossible to get it 100% right. We are trying to control things in a very uncontrolled and uncontrollable environment. The best we can do is for them to know they are safe to come and talk to us. Teach them, but also let them experience and learn things on their own.

Give them space, and have an open door. That way they will always turn to you for your advice in hard situations.

When it comes to raising children, it is never the parents job alone. The responsibility lies with all of us. Let's raise them up high.

Starts tomorrow and cannot wait to share these workouts with you! I loved filming this...had so much fun throwing in new workouts and new challenging exercises!
We kick things off tomorrow with the first workout focusing on Upper Body & Core using the resistance band. The workout is split into two parts so you can do the first half and then the second half later or in one session...just grab the band or light weights and go! 💪🏼

Sometimes it's just about getting started! Autumn is officially here - the perfect time to get stuck into a routine which works around your life, so we are kickstarting the next 28 Day Reset next Monday 28th September and the sale price ends TONIGHT.🍂🍁

This reset needs little to no equipment - using just resistance bands, light weights or a mat - I have included a mix of upper body, lower body, core, cardio and full body exercises to challenge you in new and varied ways whilst keeping it fun and light-hearted as always, with some absolute tunes from the past and present! I can assure you with this one you will feel the autumn burn ❤️‍🔥 can't wait to share with you!

For those who haven't done one of my resets before it's 28 days of videos; this one consists of 5 weekly workouts (which can be done in two halves) and 1 stretch video a week.
