I decided to tackle today’s Cardio Summit session solo.

The challenge?

Complete the targets while keeping my heart rate in the prescribed aerobic zone (80-89%).

Some targets I hit.
Some I didn’t.

And that’s exactly what made today’s session so valuable.

One of the biggest mistakes people make with cardio is assuming harder is always better. In reality, aerobic training requires discipline. Sometimes the goal isn’t to move faster, it’s to stay in the right zone.

What I found was that the best strategy looked completely different depending on how my heart rate responded.

Some people need longer work periods because their heart rate rises slowly and recovers quickly.

Others need shorter bursts because their heart rate spikes fast and stays elevated.

Neither is right or wrong.

The goal is understanding your body and adjusting your strategy accordingly.

Cardio Summit isn’t about who can suffer the most.

It’s about learning how to manage your effort, control your heart rate, and build a bigger engine over time. 💜

Did you hit all the targets today? 👇

Ever wondered why it’s hard to hit 90% in Cardio HIIT, but almost impossible to stay out of it in Summit? 🤔

It comes down to how your heart rate responds to exercise.

🔴 CARDIO HIIT
Your work periods are only 20–25 seconds long. Heart rate has a delay, meaning it can take 15–30 seconds to catch up to the effort you’re producing. If you ease into the set, you’ll often finish before your heart rate has even peaked.

The goal? Maximum intent from the very first second.

🟠 SUMMIT
With 2:30 work periods, cardiovascular drift comes into play. As your body temperature rises and fatigue builds, your heart rate naturally climbs higher and higher, even if your pace stays the same.

What feels like 75–80% early in the set can easily become 90%+ by the end.

The lesson:
✅ Cardio = Attack from the start.
✅ Summit = Pace with purpose.

Different sessions. Different physiological demands. Different skills to master.
