Let’s talk about what you can do TODAY to reach your goals…

I don’t know if you can relate, but there’s a phrase that used to drive me crazy when I was a kid.

It was, “Don’t get ahead of yourself.”

Whenever I heard these words, it felt like the grown-ups were always trying to hold me back.

But now that I’m older, I can see that they weren’t. They wanted me to reach my goals – and I’m sharing this with you today to help YOU reach your own goals.

The reality is, the only thing you can control is what you do TODAY.

It’s human nature to want to speed ahead – to focus on where you want to be, instead of where you are now.

But the fastest route to your goals is to focus on TODAY.

Your actions today have a direct impact on your tomorrow. Multiplied over many days, your actions predict your future.

Powerful stuff, right?

But that’s only half of it.

Imagine every one of your “todays” stacking up, teaching you valuable lessons.

And those lessons don’t only help you REACH your goals, but MAINTAIN them and BUILD on them into the future.

That’s priceless!

Books are written one word at a time … fortunes are amassed one dollar at a time … and marathons are run one step at a time.

So here’s a question: What actions can you take TODAY that will move you toward the future of your dreams?

Mocha Banana Protein Smoothie

🧋Want to give your coffee an extra protein pick-me-up?

This Mocha-Banana Protein Smoothie is FILLING… and that makes it a good on-the-go breakfast or pre- or post-workout shake to give you the energy to power through 💪

Even better? This recipe is so easy, the hardest part is remembering to set aside leftover brewed coffee in the fridge ahead of time!

And yes, before you freak out… there is frozen cauliflower on the ingredients list.

I promise, it’s a great way to sneak veggies into your smoothie and you won’t even taste it.

**NOTE: depending on how thick (or thin) you like your smoothie, you can adjust the amount of milk you add, too!

Feel free to mix this one up. You can swap out the dates for 1 tablespoon of nut butter (almond, PB, etc) instead. The dates = a sweeter smoothie, the nut butter = creamier.

Now for the recipe!

Mocha-Banana Coffee Smoothie
(serves 1)

● ¾ cup (180 ml) cold brewed coffee
● ¼ cup (30 ml) unsweetened non-dairy milk (more if necessary)
● ½ cup (55 g) frozen cauliflower florets
● 1 medium frozen banana, chopped
● ½ Tbsp cacao powder
● ½ tsp vanilla
● 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (optional)
● 2 soft pitted dates (optional) (if the dates are dry or hardened, soak them in hot water first)
● Pinch of sea salt

Place all of the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

It’s true: many times, people don’t reach their New Year’s goals.

BUT… when they DO take hold, they’re one of the very best ways to change your habits!

The key is to set yourself up for success ahead of time.

Some stats from researchers:

● 25% of people who make resolutions give them up the first week.
● 46% keep their resolutions for at least 6 months
● 8% keep their resolutions for the whole year

That 8% might not seem like much but there’s an important kicker:

The fact is, people who choose to make specific New Year’s resolution are 10 times more likely to keep them.

🔥 WEEKLY CHALLENGE! 🔥

It’s the PEDOMETER POWER CHALLENGE.

This challenge is all about a little FRIENDLY competition – with yourself.

👟Your assignment: set a daily step goal that’s a little bit of a reach for you and GET IT DONE.

→ 2,000 steps is about 1 mile depending on your stride length.

● If you normally rack up a lot of steps every day, shoot for the 10,000+ daily steps many experts recommend
● If you’re usually sedentary, aim for 2,500 to 5,000 steps a day and then work on boosting that.

Whatever number you choose, the goal is to GET MOVING and get into the habit of tracking your progress.

Here are some tips for racking up more steps:

● Take a daily walk around the neighborhood
● Park farther from your destinations
● Walk the dog
● Talk walking meetings
● Use the stairs instead of the elevator
● Walk in place during phone calls and Zoom meetings
● Take up an active hobby like gardening, golf, or tennis
● Get moving on the playground with your kids or grandkids
● Change it up! Throw in some intervals of faster walking during your normal walks!

💡You can track your steps using a fitness tracker (like Fitbit or Apple Watch) or use the one built right into your smartphone.
