We're delighted to welcome competitors back for our **British Dressage competition on Sunday 28th June**.

With classes running from **Preliminary through to Prix St Georges (PSG)**, there's something for riders at every stage of their dressage journey. Whether you're aiming for qualification points, building experience, or competing at the higher levels, we look forward to hosting a fantastic day of competition.

The health and wellbeing of all horses attending remains our highest priority. Due to recent Equine Flu and Strangles outbreaks in Wales, all competitors must comply with our Biosecurity Policy.

⚠️ IMPORTANT ⚠️

**All passports must be presented to the Secretary’s Office BEFORE unloading your horse.** Passports will be checked by our designated safety officer before any horse is permitted to unload and compete.

✔ Up-to-date Equine Flu vaccinations required
✔ Horses must have completed at least the first two vaccinations of the primary course
✔ Horses must not travel within 7 days of receiving any vaccination

Before travelling:
✅ Take your horse's temperature (do not travel if above 38.5°C)
✅ Check for signs of illness including:
• Cough
• Nasal discharge
• Enlarged glands
• Conjunctivitis
• Depression or loss of appetite

Whilst attending:
❌ Do not allow horses to graze
❌ Do not allow horses to touch other horses
❌ Do not leave horses tied outside trailers or lorries
❌ Do not allow strangers to handle your horse
❌ Do not feed haynets outside trailers or lorries
❌ Do not access areas outside permitted zones

We are looking for a novice ride, 15hh and above, to join our Working Livery team at Coleg Gwent.

Older school masters requiring careful management are very welcome, the ideal horse must be safe, sensible, and enjoy a varied working environment. A good level of schooling and jumping experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Coleg Gwent Equestrian Centre – Update

Following a recent increase in confirmed cases of Equine Influenza across Wales and the Border regions, Coleg Gwent has taken the decision to cancel all competitions and organised equine events until the end of May. This position will be formally reviewed at that time in line with current guidance and any further developments.

This decision has been made after careful consideration of the potential risks, the impact on participants, and the importance of preventing further transmission within the equestrian community. While we recognise the inconvenience this may cause, we believe this is the most responsible and proportionate action at present.

The health and welfare of our resident horses, visiting horses, and the wider equine community remain our highest priority. By temporarily reducing large-scale activity on site, we aim to support wider disease-control efforts and allow owners and riders to monitor horse health and ensure vaccinations are fully up to date.

We would like to reassure all stakeholders that there are currently no horses on site displaying symptoms of Equine Influenza. This decision is being taken purely as a precaution in response to the wider regional situation.

Entries and Refunds

All competitions and organised equine events scheduled up to the end of May have been cancelled.

Where possible, competition entries will be automatically transferred to the next available suitable event.

Facility Hire Arrangements

Individual and small-group facility hires will continue to operate at this time, as these activities can be managed under enhanced biosecurity procedures and with significantly reduced numbers on site.

All users attending facility hires must provide up-to-date vaccination records prior to arrival via email to [email protected] . Spot checks will be carried out.

We kindly ask that no horses or individuals attend the site if they are from a yard with a confirmed case of Equine Influenza, or if any horses are displaying symptoms associated with the virus. Your cooperation in these measures is essential to safeguarding horse welfare and supporting the wider equestrian community.

We will continue to closely monitor official guidance and will share further updates as the situation evolves.
