𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙮𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙨...𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙓𝙋𝙀𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙉𝘾𝙀 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙞𝙨❓

Over the years of taking wedding couples through their First Dance lessons, I have seen a fairly standard dynamic prevailing…and you might be surprised to hear that it has almost nothing to do with learning choreography and almost everything to do with TRUST in each other. Just like the forthcoming marriage! 🤍 Have a read below; (and maybe a little giggle).

Lesson 1️⃣
🕺 The Groom doesnt feel comfortable learning to dance
💃 The Bride wants to lead

Lesson 2️⃣
🕺 The Groom has found a little confidence; and now believes he can do this
💃 The Bride still wants to lead

Lesson 3️⃣
There is a softening!
🕺 The Groom is executing moves more smoothly
💃 The Bride is learning to wait and trust that she will be lead

Lesson 4️⃣
🕺 The Groom has all the pieces of the choreo puzzle. Now it all makes sense to him. He’s got this.
💃 The Bride is now on catch up…she’s spent the whole time so far being concerned about what he needs to do. Now she can trust him to lead the dance and concentrate on what she needs to do to look confidently amazing for her First Dance

Taking lessons for your First Dance is NOT simply about getting some MOVES to do to your chosen track.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲…How it started

𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐲 (dad): “Let’s surprise everyone with a dance at the reception of your wedding”
𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫 (daughter): “But neither of us can dance; or like being the centre of attention”
𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐲: “But it would be such a great surprise for your Mum. And fun!”

So. I got a message asking for lessons. 💃🕺

But there are few issues…
- We don’t live near each other so we will have almost no time to practise
- Plus we both have ridiculously busy days
- Keeping it a secret from our other halves will be near enough impossible
- Neither of us can dance
- 𝐀𝐧𝐝, 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝟒 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞…𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝

Result:
✨ Their whole Father & Daughter dance journey was such good fun - for all of us!
✨ Their “can do” attitude and determination = success!

I am immensely proud of them!
(And they both CAN dance, they just didn’t know it to begin with.)

Meet Gary (Dad) & Taylor (Daughter) 🕺💃

It was super hard clipping this video because every part of it showed how much they loved doing this! ♥️

Challenges overcome:
✅ Finding the time for lessons
✅ Finding time for practise
✅ Keeping it a secret from everyone

Result:
They got to spend special time together creating the best memories and the biggest surprise! 🥳

Congrats to Taylor & Dan on becoming Husband & Wife.

And to Gary & Taylor for stepping wildly out of their comfort zones in taking on any form of choreography and delivering it with such confidence, enjoyment & style! 🤩

I loved getting to know them both; and they were such fun to work with...the energy they have for each other and life is amazing. ✨

They worked hard in their lessons, but made it play also - which is absolutely the right way to succeed at anything in life! I will say it again, I was super proud of them both! 😁♥️

Newcomers to dance always think dance lessons are about ‘getting some moves’; when in fact, that’s only about 20% of the reward that awaits!

5 Steps to your First Dance
