A massive well done to the U15 girls cricket team who played in the Essex Tier 1 State School Finals day at Oakfield Parkonians CC today.

Up first they faced Redden Court in the semi final. Batting first, the girls declared after 18 overs on 140-2 after retiring Deborah and Keya on 30 runs each. The great total allowed the team to let everyone have a chance with the ball, with 10 girls bowling at least an over each; they bowled Redden out for 54 from just 13.4 overs.

Winning their semi final set up a great match against Chelmsford County High School. Losing the toss, the Coopers girls batted first once again and set another big total reaching 150-4; a great innings from Amy (39) and Keya (71) set them in a fantastic position going into the field. Unfortunately the girls bowling wasn’t quite tight enough this time round, giving away a few too many extras. Chelmsford managed to get to the 151 total just two wickets down with 3 overs to come.

The girls second place now means they progress through to the next round in the Knight-Stokes Cup where they will face a school from Hertfordshire.

Well done to all involved and good luck in the next round

Introducing our new 2026-27 CCCS Games Captains! Congratulations to these eight fabulous students, competitors - and people!

Our captains were appointed following a rigorous process of application letters, shortlisting and interviews from a very large number of excellent candidates that applied. We hope that they are able to reflect all these individuals, our department, and the school, as well as their predecessors have.

A huge thank you to the many year 12 students that play such a big role in sporting life at CCCS. We hope that you continue to enjoy and embrace in your final year.

Three CCCS squads took part in the Regional ‘A’ Final on Tuesday with a great deal of team and individual success!

The Junior Girls showed great team camaraderie throughout to produce a series of incredibly professional performances. Scoring 435 points, they replicated their 1st round score, and became East Anglia Champions by a comfortable 32 points!

The Inter Girls replicated their younger counterparts performance levels, with some big PB’s within the team. They further improved on their 1st round score to claim the title with an awesome 516 points - some 41 points ahead of runners-up!

The Inter Boys suffered some unfortunate injuries thoughout the day, which affected their points total, however the effort and subsequent performances from many of them throughout the day was great to see, showcasing a great deal of progress throughout the season - well done boys.

As Regional Champions both the Junior and Inter Girls have successfully qualified for the National Finals in a few weeks!!! The preparation has commenced and they are very excited to take on the very best from throughout the country - bring it on!

A brilliant Multi-Events athletics fixture on Thursday for our Year 9, Year 10 and Year 12 boys teams over at Radley College.

For this event each team must cover all track events (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m) and all field events (high jump, long jump, javelin and shot) between the four students with each participating in one track and one field event. The team of four then join forces for a 4x100m relay at the end. Points are awarded in each event, according to the decathlon scoring table, to produce overall individual, and team, rankings.

The CCCS boys were up against some incredibly strong teams competition from the likes of Eton, Wellington, Guildford, MCS, Abingdon, St Benedict's, St Edwards (Oxford) and Radley with around 60-70 boys entered in each age category.

The finals standings were as follows:

Year 12 A Team - 9461 points - SILVER🥈

Jae (Individual Silver 🥈 2209), Will (14th - 1220), Dillon (22nd - 795) and Aedan (34th - 424)

A fantastic Friday of cricket!

The U12 girls (pictured) hosted Bancroft’s school in a friendly match. The girls bowled well with some having their first bowl in a competitive match before. They kept the visitors to 101 for their total. This was chased down in the final over. With various girls being retired to give others a chance to show what they could do in the Middle.

The U15 team also played this evening. They faced Redden Court in the Essex Cup. Some tight bowling and fielding again restricted the visitors to a low score of 102-4 from their 20 overs. The team managed to win convincingly from 12.5 overs with quick scoring in the middle from Tommy (31) and Dylan (23).

Finally the U13 boys were in action. They travelled to Royal Liberty who they bowled out for 77 before chasing their score down losing 3 wickets along the way.

A great way to end a wet week!

Today the Junior Boys competed in the Regional B final. All the boys were determined to beat their round one scores. They all stepped up and absolutely smashed the track session in the morning placing them second by two points at the half way mark. They gave everything they had and it was taken down to the wire. They could not get over the line despite some outstanding performances and and unfortunately an injury they did finish 2nd overall but with 64 point increase to their round one total these boys can be very proud of their efforts. It was a pleasure to be with them for the day, they supported each other throughout and represented the badge with huge pride. Well done boys.
