I used to be someone who constantly started new things, but rarely finished ... 😒

As soon as things started getting too hard or uncomfortable, I'd give up and move on to the next thing ➡️➡️➡️

6 months ago, around my birthday, I reflected on what goals 🎯🎯 I wanted to achieve in the next 12 months ❓❓. They were...

🎯Continue to be the best father and husband I can be (𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀)
🎯Support my amazing children to pursue their dreams (𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀)
🎯Stay as fit and healthy as possible ✅✅
🎯Run 23min 5k, (𝟮𝟮.𝟰𝟬) ✅ 46 min (𝟰𝟴 𝗺𝗶𝗻) 10k and 1hr 45 (𝟭𝗵𝗿 𝟰𝟳) 1/2 marathon

ParkPlay is about rediscovering the joy of being active together. You don’t need to be sporty, just willing to join in.

Fresh air, movement, and a friendly atmosphere can make a huge difference to how people feel, and West Park is the perfect place for it.

ParkPlay will run every Saturday morning and is open to everyone, regardless of age or ability. Activities are designed to be inclusive and easy to join, with the emphasis firmly on enjoyment rather than competition.

Failure is just another learning opportunity 😊

On Sunday I failed to run my target time of sub 47 mins at Penkridge 10k run with a time of 4️⃣8️⃣0️⃣4️⃣‼️

Whilst I was a bit disappointed not to achieve my target time, I'm definitely not going to beat myself up about it. 🤷♂️

I'm taking positives from the experience, including that I'm fit and well enough to be able to run, and that I can still move my own body for 6 miles fairly quickly. 🤟

My average heart rate 💚 was significantly lower than last year, whilst my average cadence of 187 was higher. Make of this what you will. 🤷

I really enjoyed the head-to-head battle with this runner as we raced towards the finish line. 💪

Time to rest, reflect, review, and go again...

Massive thanks to Penkridge Runners and Penkridge Round Table, and all the volunteers who gave up their time to organise a fantastic event 🙌🙌

And well done to all the runners who took part and completed it in warm and humid conditions. 👏👏

𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄, 𝗜 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿...

Last year, I ran the Penkridge 10k in 47.27 in very hot and humid conditions. 🥵

𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀'𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 🎯🎯

𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗔 - 𝘀𝘂𝗯 𝟰𝟲

𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗕 - 𝘀𝘂𝗯 𝟰𝟳

Now, will I achieve either goal? I really don't know 🤷♂️❓

Up until this week, I'm sure my training has been better structured and more consistent.

Unfortunately, this week's heatwave has made running very challenging. 🙄

Whatever time I run, it will be what my training deserves.
