I feel so proud to share this with you all! I hope it inspires you as much as it does for me!
On Easter Monday, one of my runners, Arran Linton-Smith did something he never thought possible…He ran his fastest ever marathon, at the age of 66, just 5 minutes off a Boston Marathon Qualifying Time, smashing his PB by almost 20 (yes, twenty) minutes! 🏃🏻♂️💨
Two and a half years ago, he got in touch with me, having just got in to running and ‘completing’ a Couch to 5k programme in the second or third week (they usually take 9 weeks!).
Over time, Arran and I worked hard on his running form, his efficiency and his strength to withstand the stresses of running increasingly longer distances, and more frequently.
Yes, there have been setbacks, but Arran has worked hard and trusted the process to help him with his main focus of improving his longer distance times.
He’s now made the following progress in those 2 and a half years:
5k: From 26:49 to 25:47 🔥
10k: From 55:42 to 53:07 🔥
Half Marathon: From 2:16 to 2:04 (done as part of a full marathon!) 🔥
Marathon: From 4:54 (debut) to 4:33 to 4:12! 🔥
Running isn’t all about times, but it can be important for many, as a gauge of improved fitness, or as a means of competing with oneself.
Arran was understandably delighted with Monday’s performance…and now we look to take the next step and make Arran’s dream of Boston Marathon qualification a reality. 🤯
What an inspiring story – and I feel so very fortunate to be helping him along his running journey!
Have a great day and weekend!!
