When it’s been a rough few days and this song comes on…. Scream and shout is exactly what I have been wanting to do…. I feel like life sucks (I’m having a moment, I know it doesn’t really) … I feel like stopping treatment altogether because I’ve had enough, my joints hurt, my body feels broken, my emotions are all over the place and 5-10 years of this feels like forever…. Yes I look strong on the outside but inside I’m facing a daily battle to live, to fight, to be positive and strong…. The gym is my happy place, I am thankful that I get to go after not being able to for so long. It’s where I can focus, take control, shift my mindset, lift the weights, sculpt my body and rebuild brick by brick …

My sister captured these two days ago. The sun was shinning, my back was giving and my mood was joyous, happy and thankful 😄 I’m stepping into this week just like that, happy, confident, strong, thankful, joyous and ready to make moves 😉 Happy Monday beautiful people, let’s go get it this week ❤️💙🩷

I thought I’d TRY this pushup challenge 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣😅 Well at least I tried 😛 I’m nowhere near as strong as I was pre breast cancer, obviously 🤨 Not that long ago I couldn’t even do a full pushup due to the fact that I couldn’t use my upper body for 6 months after having a mastectomy, lymph nodes removed, a reconstruction and then having a PICC line in my arm for 4 months for chemotherapy… Anyway the main thing is I’m slowly building muscle and strength back in my upper body and even though I struggled with this challenge, I didn’t fall flat on my face…. So that’s a win right??!!! 🤣😛😉💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

Why do I skip??? Because I love it so much and it calms me 😄 Skipping triggers the release of endorphins to boost my mood and alleviate stress. As the queen of stressing out, I can definitely testify to the calming effect skipping gives me 😉 It’s a high intensity exercise that helps improve cardiovascular fitness. This is a big win for me because quite frankly, my running days are well and truly over 🤣🤣🤣 And guess what… skipping helps improve bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis … Thank God for that because I’m on medication to prevent the cancer coming back but they also make my oestrogen levels non existent which is an invitation for bone and joint issues 😏 Anyway, with all these benefits and my love for jump rope, this exercise is staying in my life until my body says otherwise 🤣

I ran my first marathon 10 years ago at 40 years old whilst my youngest was only 9 months old. I trained 4x a week through sleepless nights, breast feeding and postpartum. When I got to the finish line I burst into tears, I was so emotional from what I had achieved and I felt superhuman. I never thought anything could top that feeling…. However, today marks 1 year since I ran my 4th and last marathon and this topped every feeling I felt with my first 100%. I ran it 4 months after completing months of gruelling chemotherapy due to breast cancer. I only trained ONCE a week, every Sunday with my darling friend Rachel as that’s all my body could handle. (Don’t try this at home) It was the hardest thing ever and only my mental grit kept me going. Everyone said I was crazy (which I was) but I needed to do it to turn my focus away from the horrid disease I was battling and to protect my mental health. I managed to raise over £2K for giving back to a charity who were and still are a huge part of my own breast cancer journey. Life happens and sometimes it really sucks, it’s important to learn to navigate through it…. Don’t let obstacles, trials or challenges stop you from achieving your goals…. They are just stepping stones for growth 😘 Have a great week 🥰

My year so far has comprised of many celebrations, lots of dancing and being surrounded by so much love and laughter… I have taken trips and made so many unforgettable memories… I have so much to be grateful for despite all of the unseen battles I face daily. My focus on this glorious, sunny Sunday is gratitude…. Everything Hallelujah, everything Hallelujah 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

It’s the unseen work, the repetitive reps, the meal prep, the early nights, the sacrifices, the slow and steady and the disciplined grind that produces the VISIBLE results… The “boring” part is where the magic happens because that’s how consistency is built. Stop looking for flashy workouts, unrealistic moves and entertaining exercises. Focus on what will effectively and safely build the body you want and execute those exercises with consistent precision. Stay the course, enjoy the journey and the physical changes will eventually become impossible for you and others to ignore. P.S This is 9 months of consistency. If I can do it after breast cancer, 8 months of being unable to use my upper body, complete muscle wastage and rebuilding, then so can you… I’m rooting for you 💪🏾💪🏻💪🏼💪🏿

Sometimes a casual walk or a gentle stroll outside in nature is just the antidote we need to clear our heads, calm our emotions, silence the noise and bring peace to our entire being… Listening to the birds chirp, feeling the cool breeze gently touching my skin, seeing the array of colours in springtime through the trees, the grass, the sky, the sun and the flowers… the magnificence that is creation… it’s sometimes just enough to make me smile, boost my mood and ease my anxiety, worry and stress. What’s your go to stress buster???

I took a quick praise break before teaching early morning classes because this 50 year old is a walking, breathing miracle. I still have to have treatment for the next 5-10 years. I get injections the size of screwdrivers stabbed into my stomach every month to keep me in FORCED/MEDICAL menopause, I have bone infusions that afterwards make my bones feel like they are being smashed with a hammer, bloods taken bi weekly, daily tablets that make my joints hurt and cause extreme fatigue amongst other things BUT ….. I am alive and I am slowly back to doing what I love after breast cancer tried to take me out 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾😄😄😄 Since I’m still here, I’m going to dance like nobody is watching, live life to the full and just be happy…. No time for nonsense or things that zap my energy, good vibes only😉 Happy Sunday my loves….
