⚽️🦁 U15 CUP DRAMA! 🦁⚽️

Ruskington Lions 2–2 Caythorpe & Fulbeck
Caythorpe & Fulbeck win 10–9 on penalties

What a performance from the U15s today.

The Lions flew out of the blocks and were ahead inside five minutes thanks to a superb direct free kick from Mason G.

Caythorpe & Fulbeck found an equaliser through a deflected effort, but the lads responded brilliantly and kept pushing. Their hard work was rewarded midway through the first half when Josh N restored the lead.

The second half was another incredibly tight battle, with Caythorpe drawing level again.

Neither full time nor extra time could separate the two sides, meaning the tie went all the way to penalties.

What followed was a huge shootout, with Caythorpe eventually edging it 10–9.

A heartbreaking way to go out, but the lads can hold their heads incredibly high.

The effort, character, togetherness and determination shown across the whole game was outstanding ❤️

🦁🔥 U14 CUP VICTORY🔥🦁

The U14s made the short trip to neighbours Billinghay today for the first round of the Invitation Cup - and what a performance it was!

Looking to build on Wednesday night’s strong display, the lads certainly didn’t disappoint. From the very first whistle they were completely on it, playing some excellent football, moving the ball well and working relentlessly for one another from start to finish.

A brilliant all-round team performance saw the Lions come away with a huge 9-1 victory and book their place in the next round!

🦁 U13 Blacks | Cup Action 🦁

The U13 Blacks came up against a very strong North Lindum Hawks side today in the cup.

Facing opposition from a higher league was always going to be a tough test, but the Lions showed plenty of fight and character throughout.

Heads never dropped, the boys kept working for one another and continued to compete right until the final whistle.

We created chances of our own and were unlucky not to add a few more, while credit has to go to North Lindum for some outstanding finishes.

⚽️ Joe P grabbed our goal with an absolute beauty!

A huge performance from Stan today.
He chased absolutely everything from the first whistle, never stopped working and set the tone with his effort and determination.

A difficult cup tie against strong opposition, but plenty of positives to take and another valuable experience for the team.

🦁 U11 Blacks | Friendly Fixture 🦁

The U11 Blacks travelled to Boston today for another valuable pre-season friendly.

The Lions worked incredibly hard throughout against a strong Bears side who moved the ball well and gave us plenty to think about.

Defensively, the team showed great determination, battling for every ball and continuing to work for one another from start to finish.

🧤 Jacob C produced an excellent performance in goal, making a number of important saves and keeping the Lions in the game during some sustained pressure. His performance deservedly earned him POTM.

The Lions continued to push forward and were rewarded when Lukas latched onto a brilliant through ball, worked his way past two defenders and finished superbly.

Most pleasing of all was the attitude from the whole team - heads never dropped and they kept competing right until the final whistle.

Another useful friendly, more minutes in the legs and plenty to build on as this group continues to develop together! ⚽️

🦁 U10 BLACKS | FIRST LEAGUE GAME 🦁

A big milestone for our U10 Blacks today as they travelled to Young Dons for their first ever league fixture.

It took us a little while to settle into the game, but once the Lions found their feet, the improvement was there for everyone to see.

The second half in particular was really encouraging. We started moving the ball wider, creating more space and putting together some much better attacking play, which resulted in two thoroughly deserved goals.

For a team taking their first steps into league football, there were plenty of positives to take away and lots to build on.

Aidan was absolutely fired up for this one and was a rock at the back throughout. His goal line clearance was outstanding and summed up his determination perfectly🔥

Special mentions:
Kobi – A really strong debut, capped off with a deserved goal. He caused the opposition plenty of problems and used his physical presence brilliantly.

Amellie – Worked tirelessly throughout the game and played an important part in both Lions goals.

First league game under the belt, plenty learned and lots of encouraging signs for what’s ahead.

🦁 U10 BLUES | STEPPING UP A YEAR 🔥

A brilliant game for our U10 Blues as they travelled away for their first taste of league football playing a year above.

With a full squad of 11, the boys had to adapt to plenty of changes throughout the game, but whatever was asked of them, they responded superbly.

Welton made themselves difficult to break down, sitting deep and limiting space, but the Blues stayed patient. Some quick thinking, clever movement and really composed football eventually created the openings they needed.

At the back, Jack and Charlie gave us a really solid foundation, while Miki produced some excellent saves when called upon. That gave the attacking players the freedom to get forward, express themselves and play some really exciting football.

A really special performance from Noah today.
He’s had a tough couple of months trying to rediscover the confidence we all know he has, but today he stepped into central midfield - a position that demands huge work rate and one he doesn’t naturally enjoy playing and absolutely rose to the challenge.
His control, composure, passing range, hunger and work rate were outstanding. This was exactly the performance we knew was in there.

A massive step forward for the whole group and a fantastic first league experience of playing a year above.

🦁 U10 REDS | ANOTHER STRONG PERFORMANCE

Another really enjoyable outing against Burgh Town today - a side we’ve always been very evenly matched with and who once again gave our Lions a great game.

The boys started brightly, keeping possession well throughout the first half and showing some excellent strength, passing and communication across the pitch.

The conditions certainly made things interesting! 🌧️ A very wet pitch and a slippery ball meant the players had to work even harder, but they adapted brilliantly and continued to play some really good football.

A special mention to Sidney, who made his debut today following his recent arrival to the team. Welcome to the Lions! 🦁

A fantastic performance capped off with an exceptional goal. Playing in defence certainly didn’t stop him getting forward — he backed himself, drove up the pitch and finished with a cracking strike!🔥

🦁 U11 REDS | ANOTHER STEP FORWARD 🦁

A performance to be really proud of from our U11 Reds today against a very well-organised and experienced Sleaford Town A side.

This is our first season competing at A League level, and every game is another opportunity for this group to learn, develop and prove that they belong at this level.

We grew into the game really well and, after a positive HT chat about our work out of possession, the response from the players in the second half was absolutely superb.

The work rate, determination and togetherness were there in abundance, and we created numerous chances going forward. On another day, with a little more fortune and without an excellent display from the Sleaford goalkeeper - we could certainly have taken something from the game.

The biggest positive is the progress we continue to see. We’re competing, creating chances and learning every single week against some very strong sides.

Results won’t always tell the full story, and today was definitely one of those days.

So proud of every player and the effort they put in.

We’ll keep working hard on the training pitch, keep improving and keep taking those steps forward together.

🦁 U8 REDS | SUPERB TEAM PERFORMANCE ❤️

What an all round performance from our U8s today! 👏

From the very first whistle, in absolutely pouring rain, every single player was switched on and ready to go🌧️

There was some excellent passing football on display, brilliant teamwork and some fantastic goals - including one straight off the training ground that worked an absolute treat! 😍

As the game went on and we mixed things up, it was great to see everyone getting involved and making an impact.
