Weekly beginners sessions designed for all female, non-binary or transgender people, including cisgender women, non-binary people, transgender women, transgender men, gender fluid people and gender questioning people. Our sessions are centred around those who:
- are trying football for the first time (no need to have kicked a ball ever!)
- are returning to football after a gap in playing.
- would
like a relaxed, casual, comfortable and safe space to play.
- have been marginalised from football and been unable to find comfortable places to play. We support and welcome a range of ages, abilities, confidence levels, body types and fitness levels. If anyone who comes along would then like to find another football space (e.g. more competitive or a team), we can often suggest places to try. Our space is also for anyone who identifies as female, non-binary or transgender, including cisgender women, non-binary people, transgender women, transgender men, gender fluid people, gender questioning people. Due to our focus on those who have been most marginalised from football spaces, we do not offer this space to cisgender men. Sessions run every Saturday, 1-2pm at Powerleague, Leeds Central, LS3 1LW for £5 a session if you can afford (we don't want payment to be a barrier so we can lend kit and help with bus fares/ session cost). The sessions will be informal, and a chance to play football in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment. We start by practising some basic skills and then play a game among all participants. All abilities and backgrounds are welcome, and definitely no previous experience required!
