I’m proud of being me… today, I’ve secured permanent employment at the NHS working as a Senior Manager in children’s mental health. This is working pretty much back at the level I was working my when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. At the time of diagnosis I thought my life and career was over - I was so uncertain of what was to lie ahead. I might have had to pause my progress for 7 years or so and do a lot of recalibrating, but I didn’t think my brain would be able to work at this level ever again.
I love my job, I love my family and I feel as though I have my life back again.
I can still multi task (and I still volunteer my time to support others), as well as making time to experience key milestones with the children. I also run weekly Pilates classes for people with MS.
Some days are tough… really tough. Recent weeks have been challenging as I’m due for my 6 monthly infusion for my MS drugs. I have to sleep every day at the moment to be able to get through the day, but I’ve learnt to adapt (like the dragonfly!) I’m just taking stock for a moment to reflect on achievements. Things don’t land in laps… most of us have to work for them. I really do believe that remaining as positive as possible helps you overcome the challenging times…

Thanks to Sytchampton Endowed Primary School and the PTA for organising the opening of the new classrooms. It was lovely to see some old faces too! Olympic gold medalist and world champion swimmer Matt Richards was so good with the children.
Thanks to all of my clients Dragonfly Pilates with Amy who helped to raise in excess of £600 towards this project. I’m super proud to have been part of a great team working with Elaine Newman, Emma Hurst, Amanda Fischer, Maria Craze - it was a blast, and the new crew have done super 👌to get it over the line.

Adrian and I are absolutely amazed by this lad. At age 11 he has managed to successfully defend his karting championship. He did it in style today - achieving maximum points (61). He won his first heat, and the second, held onto the lead for the final race and bagged the fastest lap of the day. Well done Zach Smith. Thanks to Daytona Motorsport and Yiorgos Meliotis. 🙌🏎️🙌🏎️🙌

Most people know I have MS - it’s almost become my Pilates USP. Sadly, in December 2023 the MS society stopped funding Pilates classes for people with MS across Worcestershire.
The local branch of the MS society subsequently folded.
The positive news is that a new (and fantastic) coordinator volunteer has been onboarded but a few more volunteers are needed to support the running of the group. If you can spare a little time, please please do think about volunteering to support the group and supporting people with MS across Worcestershire to access services and support. There really is very little available…
