Excitingly I rebranded my business as Train In Sync towards the end of last year, and subsequently brought my original ‘Kelly Health & Fitness’ and this page under one roof. It made far more sense!

During the pandemic I really enjoyed researching in depth female physiology, and this has since become my niche! I do still coach men though, so don’t be scared to reach out if you have any health and fitness questions.

Please hop onto and follow Train In Sync (I’m also in instagram), where you’ll find lots of interesting info on training, nutrition, hormone health etc 😊

Do you feel like you’ve been on a diet for years? I hear this so often from the ladies I coach, and food guilt and food anxiety is so common!

In my teens and twenties I suffered from eating disorders, so this topic resonates with me too.

I started coaching a lady a few weeks ago, and in our first session she said how stressed she felt about her diet, and the pressure to avoid certain foods. When I asked what foods she was worried about one of the first things she said was “avocado”. Avocado? What’s wrong with eating avocados? A well known food myth is that avocados are ‘fattening’… Yes, they contain fat, but it’s HEALTHY fat! 🥑

She also revealed she was using fry light, another diet culture invention, versus olive oil. When I checked her fat intake it was too low! It’s great when you can say to someone “you should eat more fat” 😄

Recent studies have shown that the Mediterranean diet, rich in healthy fats and avocados etc, performed better than low fat diets, with participants losing MORE body fat! You see, it’s not always about calories and fat, but about the nutritional quality of your food. Plus, women NEED good fats in their diets for optimum hormone function.

Demonising, and creating the notion of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ foods needs to change. Food is food, but in varying nutritional value. I eat a healthy diet, with around 30-35% fat (not that I officially record this daily, as life is too short), but I eat ‘treats’ daily, stuff my face with avocados, and liberally pour the olive oil, and I’m fine!

Two weeks on, my client has been eating all the things she’s missed, including regular avocados, cooking with olive oil, and has lost 5lb!

I received a voicenote from her saying “I’m enjoying food again!” This makes me SO happy. You’ll also be interested to hear that when I analysed her food diary (which contained all of the previously ‘forbidden’ foods), her nutrition score was AMAZING!

Are you trapped in the diet cycle? Tell me in the comments your food anxieties and I’ll try and put your minds at rest. 😊

I want to congratulate this AMAZING woman for her incredible feat of endurance today 🙌🏻

Just 10 weeks ago Kirsty came out of a boot and off crutches, following a nasty ankle break and a bad sprain of the other (talk about the worst luck!), but today completed the Ride London 100 mile bike ride in a phenomenal 6 hours 30 mins!

I want everyone out there who doubts their abilities to take a leaf out of Kirsty’s book, and to dream big and go for it!

I am so proud of you Kirsty, and so excited about your next upcoming challenge 🤩

P.S. women rock at endurance 💪

With the minefield of supplements on the market, have you ever wondered whether you need to take collagen?

I’d previously thought collagen supplements were mainly for skin and hair, but now know that they’re great for so many other things!

Watch this video, to learn the ‘need to know’ info, but essentially if you struggle with chronic tendon, ligament or cartilage issues, then it might be a good addition to your diet.

I’m a coach that strongly promotes REAL food vs supplements, but I can see a place for this if you struggle with connective tissues injuries.

I give some tips for vegan and plant based diets too.

Any questions ref dosage, types etc? Pop them in the comments and I’ll give you further tips and advice 😊

Far too much focus is put on calories when trying to lose weight, but this alone rarely leads to sustainable and long term results. There are so many factors to take into account for weight loss, eg exercise, general daily activity, genetics, timing of meals, etc.

But we now know that there is a huge link between our gut health, and gut microbiome diversity, and our weight, with poor gut diversity being linked to obesity.

Throughout the pandemic I have followed .spector and the group (I recommend you give these a follow too 😊) and they have really opened my eyes to the importance of ‘eating the rainbow’, and while reading The Diet Myths by Tim Spector I came across his fantastic phrase “colouries NOT calories”. So true!!!

The Zoe group recommend we eat 30+ varieties of plant based foods a week; “Nuts, seeds, pulses, whole grains fruits, and veggies are all packed with nutrients that support a healthy gut.”

I’ve been recording my plant foods for the last 7 days, and reached a grand total of 36, but admittedly this is more than perhaps I usually have, as I was making a conscious effort!

Creating a diverse diet, rich in variety, is my first action with every client I support, and the ‘30 a week’ is now going to be a regular feature 😊

Why don’t you have a count up of yours over the next 7 days and put your scores in the comments below 👇

Today we said goodbye to our wonderful friend Neil, a true inspiration to the running community, and one of THE nicest people you could ever meet.

Neil and I met through our love of running, and I loved our post-training geeky chats about training methods, heart rate thresholds, and injury management. Good times 😊

We both began to suffer from a dodgy leg and drop foot at roughly the same time, and whilst mine is purely a nerve issue, Neil was sadly diagnosed with motor neurone disease, and after 3 stoic years it sadly took him from us on 1st April.

You’re no longer with us Neil, but your motivational words of encouragement will live on in everyone you coached, and you’ve brought the joy of running into so many peoples lives.

As a legacy to you I will be taking on a physical feat later this year, not sure what as yet, but it’s time to stop making excuses. If we’re able to move we should celebrate that, and push our bodies to achieve great things.

RIP Neil (P.S. fellow Spurs fan - the best kind 😉)
