🌊👀 Is Your Child’s Swimwear Visible Underwater? 👀🌊

Did you know that the colour of your child’s swimwear can make a huge difference to how easily they can be seen underwater?

As this image shows, some colours virtually disappear beneath the surface, while others remain highly visible. In an emergency, those extra seconds spent trying to locate a child can be critical.

✅ Best colours for visibility: Bright neon yellow, neon green, bright orange, and vivid pink.

⚠️ Colours that can be harder to see: White, light blue, grey, navy, dark purple, and black – especially in deeper water or poor lighting conditions.

At Sholfins, water safety is at the heart of everything we do. While no swimwear colour replaces active supervision and strong swimming skills, choosing a highly visible costume or pair of shorts can provide an extra layer of safety when your child is in or around the water.

💙 Remember:
🏊 Always maintain active supervision.
🏊 Ensure children swim within their ability.
🏊 Enrol in swimming lessons to build confidence and essential water safety skills.
🏊 Consider bright, high-visibility swimwear for holidays, pools, lakes, and beaches.

💙 Water Safety Starts with Good Advice 💙

At Sholfins, we're proud to support the life-saving work of the Royal Life Saving Society UK.

Every year, lives are lost through preventable water-related accidents. That's why it is so important to follow trusted water safety advice and ensure that children and adults alike understand how to stay safe around water.

The Royal Life Saving Society UK's Water Safety Code is simple but effective:

🛑 Stop and think
👀 Stay together
☎️ Call 999 in an emergency
🛟 Float if you fall in

These four simple steps can make a huge difference in an emergency.

Swimming lessons are an important part of water safety, but learning how to recognise risks and respond safely around water is just as important. We encourage all of our Sholfins families to take a few minutes to learn about water safety and share these messages with friends and family.

Together, we can help more people enjoy the water safely and confidently.

It’s here! Today marks the first day of Drowning Prevention Week 2026!

We are equipping children and young people with essential water safety and lifesaving skills ahead of the summer holidays.

Through education and awareness, we are working towards communities free from drowning. But to achieve this, we need your help.

Whether you’re a parent, carer, school, club, business, or organisation, get involved, join us to spread vital water safety messages this week.

Drowning is preventable, and together, we can save lives. 🛟

Look at those happy faces at today’s final Sholfins session! 💙😊🌊

We’re going to miss each splash 💦, every kick 🦵, the laughter 😄, the determination 💪, and all those little victories that make swimming so rewarding. 🌟

But it’s not goodbye for long… we’ll be seeing our amazing swimmers back very soon, ready to dive straight back in and make even more waves! 🌊🐬

Thank you for being part of our Sholfins family 💙

Watching our little preschoolers perfect their kicks is more than just a cute moment — it’s a huge step in their swimming journey 💦👣

Strong kicking helps build the foundations of water confidence, body position, and propulsion through the water. At this stage, it’s all about developing coordination, strengthening those leg muscles, and learning how to move efficiently and safely. Every splash and flutter kick is helping them become more independent swimmers 🌊✨

By practising early, they’re not only improving their technique but also building stamina and confidence — key skills that will support them as they progress through their swimming journey 🏊‍♀️💙

We honestly can’t quite believe this… 🤯✨

Back in January, we sent off a little email and just assumed it had disappeared into the void… but fast forward to now and we’ve had a small business shoutout from Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe on the Parenting Hell Postcast!!! 🙌💙

To say we’re shocked is an understatement—but also incredibly grateful ❤️

Moments like this mean so much to a small, community-focused business like ours. Thank you for supporting us, cheering us on, and being part of what we do every single week 🫶

We’re still smiling!! 😄
