I’m 46 today!
Here are 10 things that have changed in my life.

1. I now know I wasn’t losing my mind, I was just menopausal
2. Have a teenager instead of a little boy
3. I barely drink alcohol
4. Left a high paid and high pressured career
5. Realised how much joy I got from helping others and started my own business
6. Take HRT it changed (and saved) my life
7. My marriage is stronger
8. I eat coco pops post workout because I don’t label foods good or bad
9. I did a photoshoot that I never thought I would be able to do
10. I learnt to bake sourdough

I honestly wouldn’t have believed you 10

For 24 years I thought happiness was hiding in a smaller body.

At 19 I was the heaviest I’d ever been.

So I joined Weight Watchers and began what would become a 24-year obsession with losing weight.

In 2014 I ran the London Marathon.

9 stone 2lbs.

The fittest I’d ever been.

But if I’m honest?

I only wanted to run it because I thought it would make me thinner.

By 2020 I was the thinnest I’d ever been.

9 stone 4lbs.

And I still wasn’t satisfied.

I still believed smaller was better.

Then in 2025 something happened.

I got into the shape I’d always dreamed of for a photoshoot.

The funny thing?

I weighed exactly the same as I had in 2020.

Same weight.

Completely different body.

That’s when I realised the scales tell you far less than you’ve been taught to believe.

And now?

I’m 45 (46 tomorrow).

Peri-menopausal.

Heavier than my lightest (because I have built muscle).

But happier, more confident and more comfortable in my skin than I’ve ever been.

Because “hot” isn’t a dress size.

It’s how you feel when you stop letting your weight determine your worth.

It took me 24 years to learn that lesson.

My mission is to help other women learn it a lot faster.

I run live workouts with my clients twice a week every week.

Some of them come live

Some workout with me on replay

All of them enjoy the random things that come into my head mid workout

They love it when Henry decides that a sit up is a perfect time to come and kiss me or play

And they absolutely adore the brain fart moments when my menopausal head is on the wrong way and I either forget what I was about to say or I panic that I haven’t recorded.

But its a real life woman showing real life women how to get in shape at home

You’re a menopausal woman who eats “clean” but isn’t losing weight

Just like my client M

She was eating “healthy” all the things that they tell you on social media…

Like peanut butter

Chia seeds

Snacking on nuts and dried fruit

Avocado on her sourdough with scrambled egg

Not weighing because the influencers told her if she ate clean and healthy she wouldn’t need to weigh her food

Here’s the problem with that

Whilst these foods have a place in your diet

They are mostly a source of fat

And fat has more that double the number of calories than protein and carbohydrate

So you are effectively getting less food for more calories

And as a menopausal woman this could easily knock out your calorie deficit

For the last two weeks my client M has focused on her portion sizes of these high calorie and has lost 4lbs - just by making these small tweaks

I’m not telling you not to eat these foods

I’m telling you that if your goal is to lose weight

And you are including a lot of these foods in your diet every day this is likely the reason you aren’t losing weight

Here’s what to do instead:

1. Base your meals around protein first
2. Add 2-3 portions of fruit and veg to that protein
3. Have a small portion of fat with that (remember what you cook in could also be fat)
4. Make sure all your snacks are protein based

The scales don’t tell the whole story….

There is a years difference in these two pictures of me

I’m the same weight in both pictures

But my waist is smaller, my legs are smaller and my hips are smaller (proven by the fact that the jeans I am currently wearing are lose AF)

If you look closely in these pictures there is more differences than my tan (yes ma’am it’s directly from a bottle)

My shoulders are bigger and arms are more toned (less bingo wings now)

My legs have less fat and are more muscular - this is great news because I have always been self conscious of my legs

My bottom is more peachy and rounded boom!

And my pecs are most definitely larger than my actual b***s and thats ok

What have I done differently between these two pictures….?

The answer is nothing

I’ve cut nothing out

I’ve added nothing in

I spent some time last year eating at maintenance to build some muscle and now I am in a fat loss phase again

But my diet, my workouts, the habits I am executing daily don’t look much different

Although because of said muscle I am now losing fat on higher calories which is GREAT news.

Like I said at the beginning the scales don’t tell the whole story and social media can trick you into believing that you need something complicated and magical to make changes.

When in fact what you actually need is time, patience and the basics…

The right calories
Protein
Fibre
Water
Lift weights
Steps
Sleep
Manage your stress
