Mental health is so important, especially at this time of year.โฃ

Hundreds of photos over happiness, Christmas being the best time of year but we should also remember the pressures, financial burdens and overwhelm it can cause. I love Christmas, but I also find it very overwhelming.โฃ
โฃ
The mornings and evenings are dark, itโ€™s cold, which makes everything a lot harder, we are a lot more busy, stressed, and tired. We need to be mindful of looking after ourselves and also be considerate of others; A time that might be amazing for you maybe harder for other people, this year people missing a certain someone or family member(s) that they cannot be with, absent friends, people battling with illness, addictions and abuse.โฃ
โฃ
I donโ€™t want to put a downer on Christmas at all, but we need to check in with ourselves, loved ones, squeeze everyone a little tighter and be extra kind to all, we never know what anyone is going through.

Christmas is so much more than just presents; itโ€™s love, laughter and being with the best people. So donโ€™t get sucked into the Instagram non-reality. I am so grateful for my family and friends and everything that I have right now. That is the most important thing โค๏ธ

Last weekend I travelled to Venice by myself for a weekend. I was toying with the idea, given Covid restrictions, was it too much hassle, it was risky, can I be by myself, can I afford it? BUT no, I had set a goal to go on holiday this year and solo travel, something Iโ€™ve never done- so I did it.โฃ
โฃ
I donโ€™t think I have ever been more proud of myself over the last couple of days. Firstly being by yourself in a beautiful place such as Venice encourages you to be mindful. I took in the beautiful weather, the water, the buildings, architecture, the food, tastes, smells, people. Yes at times I felt uncomfortable, vulnerable, especially eating by myself. But this forced me to go inward, acknowledge my thoughts and feelings, and sit in them. โฃ
โฃ
Iโ€™ve felt very disconnected over the past couple of weeks, change of seasons, being ill, going out a lot, tiredness, but this trip really allowed me to come back to myself and recognise areas I need to work on. โฃ
โฃ
The main thing to take from this is that itโ€™s important to have goals, they allow you to stay on track even when it feels like you are falling off, and if you do, they help get you back on it. Nothing is ever linear. Itโ€™s worth bearing in mind that we have 42 days until the end of the year, two questions: โฃ

What have you done this year to make you proud?โฃ
What did you want to get done before the year is up? โฃ

Lots of exciting things to come, Iโ€™ll do a post about it a bit later this week. Iโ€™ve been quiet as Iโ€™ve had a chesty cough and cold for the past two weeks, I was suprised how much is wiped me and the negative effect it had on mentally, as I hate being ill, not being able to do very much, and living alone when you canโ€™t get up to make a cup of tea is a kicker ๐Ÿ˜ญ. So instead I have been spending time filling up my cup, seeing friends, family, and doing lots of different things.โฃ

I recognised this morning that I need to start getting my fitness back, Iโ€™m finally feeling strong enough. Rather than being cross with myself that Iโ€™ve prioritised other things mainly for recovery, I am being kind to myself and just starting making small changes to get back to it. โฃ
โฃ
If youโ€™ve โ€˜fallen off the band wagonโ€™ recently donโ€™t worry about it, or punish yourself for it, just take a little step to climb back on board. โฃ

I always feel excited for the week ahead, but I think it can be an overwhelming day for some...โฃ

The need to start your Monday off perfectly in order for the week to go well. If it doesnโ€™t then that is the weeks goals ruined, itโ€™s a bad day or week. โฃ
โฃ
Giving yourself the best start on Sunday certainly helps but just make sure that what you want to do on Monday is achievable. If you have had a heavy weekend then donโ€™t plan to do a 6am session if you know you are less than likely to get up, instead plan a walk or do it at lunchtime, later in the day or rather just smash your nutrition that day and hit the gym Tuesday. โฃ
โฃ
Spread your goals out over the week, and every evening ask yourself โ€˜how can I be 1% better tomorrow?โ€™ Write it down. If you didnโ€™t manage to get something done, celebrate what you did do, let it go and book it in again, as there is always tomorrow. Hopefully this helps enjoy your Monday just a little bit more ๐Ÿ’›โฃ

Tuesday thoughts โœจ

Iโ€™m on the bus going into to work, and Iโ€™m amazed what Iโ€™ve already achieved.

I planned my day out yesterday and knew it was going to be hard to fit everything in. I set my alarm at 5:30am because I need coffee and to journal. Its my non negotiable, and my saviour at the moment.

I sent my wake up messages, went for a little run, trained my client, had my breakfast, showered blah blah.

BUT I missed my bus, flapping around with boiled eggs ๐Ÿ˜‚ usually I would be in a spin and let it ruin my entire morning. But instead I just started walking, further up there was another bus from a different route and Iโ€™m on time.

Yes Iโ€™m now sweating my t**s off but Iโ€™ve still achieved a lot and I have my boiled eggs so thatโ€™s a win. There is always another bus, another route, and deodorant ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

This is just a quick post to say how important our mental wellbeing over the next month. Be kind to yourself. The most important thing to do is look after you. Fill your days with quality over quantity. Give your mind & body the best chance. Get outside, eat lots of fruit veg & wholesome food, move in anyway you can (dancing, walking, running, cycling, online workouts, personal training to name a few) talk, journal, be grateful, ask for help if you are struggling or feeling lost, I promise you are not the only one!โฃ

If online is your thing, I have 1:1 slots available and a mixture of live & zoom workouts - check out the timetable. If outdoors are your thing, I am doing mobile 1:1 PT sessions in your local park. Message me for more details.โฃ
