Longevity isn’t about punishing your body.

As women move through their 40s, 50s and beyond, our bodies often respond better to exercise that challenges us without completely draining us.

In this reel, I’m using a squat and ball throw combination to get my heart rate up… and then allowing it to come back down again.

That ability to raise your heart rate and recover efficiently is one of the strongest markers of cardiovascular fitness and healthy ageing.

What I see too often is workouts labelled as “HIIT” that never actually allow recovery. The heart rate stays elevated, stress hormones remain high, and every session becomes a battle.

Real interval training includes intervals.

It includes recovery.

It includes listening to your body.

One of the biggest changes we see in our STOMPERS isn’t just getting fitter or stronger—it’s reaching the point where exercise becomes something you genuinely miss when it’s not part of your day.

The best exercise for longevity isn’t always found in a gym.

Sometimes it’s simply walking up a hill.

As we get older, maintaining muscle mass, cardiovascular fitness, bone strength and balance becomes increasingly important. Walking uphill challenges all four at the same time, without the impact of running or the complexity of complicated workouts.

For women over 40, regular uphill walking can help strengthen the legs and glutes, improve heart health, support healthy bones and preserve the fitness needed for everyday life.

At STOMP, we love it because it’s accessible, effective and sustainable. No fancy equipment. No gruelling sessions. Just moving your body in a way that helps you stay strong, capable and confident for years to come.

This STOMPER is Vikki!

She’s also our 2026 Ambassador and wears her hoodie with pride — a reflection of the incredible impact she’s had on her own health, fitness and wellbeing over the past few years.

One of the things we love most at STOMP is that when exercise is sustainable, varied and enjoyable, it stops feeling like a chore. Week after week, it simply becomes part of your lifestyle because it doesn’t leave you exhausted, defeated or dreading the next session.

Of course, some workouts will challenge you more than others, but movement should always feel achievable, rewarding and something you can come back to again and again.

When fitness becomes part of how you live, amazing things happen. You find yourself saying “yes” to opportunities you may once have avoided — like booking the activity-packed adventure holiday Vikki is heading off on today!

We smash the recommendation to train for 2 hours weekly at STOMP!!

The headlines this week were talking about how just 90–120 minutes of strength training per week could help us live longer, stay healthier, and reduce our risk of disease.
