Foreign Field Living History Group

Foreign Field Living History Group Multi-period living history group These exhibits are supervised and hands-on and a chance for members of the public to handle almost everything we bring.

We are a small group of UK based living history interpreters, who portray various people throughout history that have captured our imagination and admiration. We can portray the paratroopers of the Second World War and the post war National Serviceman, the 15th Century Archer and Swordsman, the Georgian Duellist, Doctor or Body snatcher and many others. Our displays frequently feature a living his

tory camp for outdoor events which will have demonstrations of weapons and equipment throughout the day along with stories and presentations.

OTD- Today marks the 280th anniversary of the battle of Culloden, fought on the 16th April 1746.

This was the culmination of the last ditch effort by the house of Stuart to overthrow the house of Hanovar and regain the crown and control of the Great Britain.

The loss at Culloden for the Jacobite army brought about the final demise of the Stuart house and their claim to the thrown of England. In less than an hour the way of life of the Highlands was changed forever, with sweeping social and political reforms enforced to stamp out any further risings for the Jacobite cause.

For more information on the wider campaign and the battle come and see our new show 'whigs vs bonnets the 1745 uprising' that will be debuting at the Chalk history festival in June!
