Buxted Park Bowls Club We are located in a stunning country setting in parkland on the outskirts of Buxted Village.

We are a mixed club of around 60 members with a diverse, friendly membership and active social calendar.

Finals weekend begins tomorrow and the club will be open for spectators to come and support the finalists.

Matches start from 10:30 so please do pop along to show your support and watch some brilliant bowls.

Tomorrow morning will include the 100up, mixed handicap, mixed plate and 3 wood pairs.

At 2pm the men’s and ladies championship will be underway with Alex Paine v Jason Walter and Nicola Drew v Chris Barradell.

The weather is looking good for Saturday so no excuses ☀️

This weekend we hosted our annual Mick Read Invitation day where 20 teams from across the county visit Buxted for a day of fun, food and bowls.

We receive so many positive comments each year and this year was no different so thank you to each and every person who took part in some way. It means so much to us to see everyone having a good time.

🥇Massive congratulations to the winning team from Hellingly Bowls Club 🏆

🥈Commiserations to the runners up at Eastbourne Bowling Club.

Congratulations must also go to any of the winners of raffle prizes, the spider and the target bowls.

A big thank you to everyone from Buxted who helped make the day such a success whether that was cleaning, cooking, baking or cheering the teams on from the sidelines.

TOM FRANCIS WINNERS🎉

After yesterdays success with the ladies, Buxted Park have continued their winning streak with a brilliant win in the final of the Tom Francis Competition played at Burgess Hill against Horsham BC.

This is the second year in a row Buxted have won this competition which is a real achievement.

Massive well done to everyone who has played in any of the rounds and supported the teams.
Special shoutout to Anne K, Captain Dave, David D, Sue W and Mick P who were there cheering on the team today for the final.

SUSSEX CHAMPIONS 🍾

They did it and we knew they would!

Chris Barradell and Nicola Drew are the Women’s Sussex County Pairs Champions 2026.

It was a brilliant game from both teams but our ladies stayed on top throughout, winning 20-7 at 15 ends when the opponents conceded.

You’ve both done yourself and Buxted proud this season… Now go smash it at Leamington!!

GOOD LUCK LADIES

Today Chris Barradell and Nicola Drew are playing in the Final of the Ladies Pairs for Sussex.

Having already qualified for Leamington, today’s match could see them win the county title.

They play today at 10am at Preston Bowls Club against a strong team from Eastbourne.

Wishing you the best of luck today ladies.

JOHN CROCK TROPHY

Today 30 members took to the green in our annual John Crock Trophy competition. This was the 30th anniversary of the tournament so it was lovely to see so many members taking part both on the green and supporting from the side.

The format is drawn triples ‘round robin’ where each team played 5 games of 4 ends leading straight to a final in the afternoon.

The points were close with EVERY team winning atleast one round but progressing into the final were Colin Bone, Mel B and Andy Lane against Anne Peck, Anna Sherwood and Jason Walter.

After a slice or two of competition secretary Toms famous Whisky and Ginger cake 😋 the final went ahead and victorious were Anne, Anna and Jason who were presented with their trophy by the lovely Helen Branch.

A special well done shoutout to our Chairman Paul Dunstall who won the spider and will receive his choice of spirit or wine 🍾

A truly lovely day of bowls, food, sun and some friendly competition between friends.

Bring on next year 💪🏼

Today Buxted was represented in the women’s county pairs at Preston by our very own Christine Barradell and Nicola Drew.
They played an excellent game with many tight heads and clapping and cheering from the crowd. They dominated the game and showed that they were a force to be reckoned with.

They started strong and kept a lead throughout from their opponents from Southwater. After 12 ends, they were 17-7 up with only six ends remaining. They kept their heads tight and bowled very well maintaining the lead to which the opposition had to concede on the last end as they were too far behind to catch up.

Winning today has guaranteed their place at Leamington at the National Bowls Finals. We wish them the best of luck there and I know we will all cheer them on and wish them good fortune in the women’s county finals weekend held on the 25th-26th July. Anyone that can come and support would be much appreciated.

Well done Christine and Nicola and keep going, Buxted are behind you. 👍👍

Tomorrow Sunday 12th July Buxted face Haywards Heath in the semi final of the Tom Francis competition at 10am.
This is a double rink competition with one team playing at home and the other away. Both scores are then combined to get the winner.

Support is always appreciated - so if you’re around it would be great if you could get to one of the venues and support all the players.

Then at 13:30 Chris and Nicola will be playing in the ladies pairs Semi final at Preston Bowls club against a pair from Southwater. The winner of this match will be through to the Sussex final and will automatically qualify for the Nationals at Leamington Spa in August!

Again support is always appreciated.

We wish everyone playing tomorrow the best of luck and remember to stay hydrated🥤💧
