I believe yoga, nature and art are fundamental to supporting mental health and well-being for everyone. I am an early years and primary teacher with twenty-two years’ experience. Over the last five years I have observed a decline in children’s emotional stability, examples of this are:
• Delayed speech and social skills
• Poor concentration
• Inability to be still
• Low self-esteem. I believ
e these issues are having a negative impact on learning and development. I have found that skills and development can be improved when children engage in regular yoga, nature and art encounters. The benefits include improved:
• Coordination and balance
• Attention and listening
• Well being and mindful relaxation
• Self-esteem and self-regulation. At Mindful Balance we offer sessions in:
Yoga, which teaches children postures and breathing techniques woven into age appropriate exciting stories, rhymes and songs. Nature, which provides opportunities for children to experience the outdoors in the most natural way possible. We explore nature using our senses, engaging in practical woodland activities and immerse ourselves in green space surroundings. Art, that encourages creative expression through practical methods enables children to better communicate their ideas, express their thoughts and develops inner focus. We offer sessions for:
• Pre-school
• Primary school
• Bespoke sessions for SEND
• After school. I offer sessions from one hour and these are available to book in half/full term blocks I hold an enhanced dbs check, I have full public liability insurance and risk assessments are completed for every session.
