We are pleased to share that Jake Dade has been selected to represent Team GB at the Friuli Venezia Giulia 2023 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival in Skier Cross.

Well done to all of those representing Team GB and good luck.

The British Olympic Association has selected 18 athletes to represent Team GB at the Friuli Venezia Giulia 2023 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) running between 21-28 January 2023.

So it’s been a while since we’ve reported any Norfolk Race team “news and results” but there’s been a bit going on in the mountains recently. So we thought you might like an update

Before Christmas, Joel, Alex, Heidi, Axel and Marcus were honing their skills in Zell am Zee, Austria where they enjoyed the best of the early-season snow and did a LOT of jumping (photo courtesy of Alpine Race Academy)

After Christmas it was straight into racing in Reiteralm, Austria, followed by the Ambition Children’s Championships where Norfolk skiers Fred and Alfie C were flying the Norfolk flag

U10 boys Fred C 🏆in Reiteralm and 2 GS wins 🏆🏆 in the Ambition Champs

U12 boys Alfie C🥈in Reiteralm backed up with a🥉on the first day of slalom at the Ambition Champs

Attention now turns to the Evolution speed races where Fred and Alfie C are joined by Isaac, Alfie R, Thomas, Axel and Heidi - it’s busy in the mountains and early reports are looking good 😊 keep it up guys

This session is open to; skiers and snowboarders; kids and adults; athletes who are completely new to it and to those that have already competed.

This is a great opportunity for development if you are an Alpine or Freestyle athlete and are looking to try something new or to expand your existing skills into the adrenaline packed world of ski and snowboard cross.

This discipline is head to head racing around courses which typically incorporate terrain features traditionally found in freestyle, including big-air jumps and high-banked turns. Ski and Snowboard Cross is considered a freestyle discipline, but utilises alpine skills, and so is open to competitors from every background to get involved. What sets it apart from other alpine disciplines is that it involves more than one athlete racing down the course, often leading to exciting overtakes and photo-finishes.

EVERYONE deserves a massive pat on there back after todays Club Champs. The weather couldn’t have been any more against us.. but we survived it! 👊🏻

An even bigger pat on the back needs to go to all our volunteers who have stood on the slope getting drenched to there skin and yet, still managed to keep those smiles smiling 😁

As always, thank you to the parents, racers and not forgetting our organisers for supporting and organising todays race. 😎
