In Memory of David Crowley
1947–2026
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our much-loved club member, player and friend, David Crowley.
David was a true and loyal member of our table tennis family for more than 10 years. He was competitive right until his very last session - always fighting for every single point, never giving anything away! He will always be remembered as the player with his huge, spinny serves and powerful topspin. 🏓
But David was so much more than a great table tennis player. He genuinely cared about our club and our young players. He was always interested in their development, asking about their progress and celebrating their successes with us.
David also had a wonderful way of making memories. He was the one who would bring us pieces of newspapers and articles about table tennis, knowing that we would want to keep them as little pieces of history to look back on. He shared so many great stories about Table Tennis England, table tennis in France, and the many years he had been involved in the sport.
Oh David… we are already missing you. 💔
It is so hard to believe that you won’t be walking through the doors for our Wednesday sessions anymore - sessions you loved because they were all about playing matches!
That was David: give him a table, an opponent and a chance to fight for a point, and he was happy.
David, thank you for being part of our club for so many years. Thank you for helping and encouraging our young players, for the countless crucial points you won in the local league, for your stories, your jokes, your smile and your wonderful character.
Most of all, thank you for being one of those loyal club members who became part of the heart and soul of our club.
Your place at the table will be empty, but your memory will always be part of our TTTA family.
Our thoughts are with David’s family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. Please accept our deepest and most heartfelt condolences. We hope they can take some comfort in knowing how much David was loved, respected and valued by everyone at Torbay Table Tennis Academy.
We will miss you so much, David.
