We celebrate the diversity that female surfers embody and SSG is our way of taking ownership of our surf industry at the grass roots; by presenting ALL aspects of women's surfing from a female perspective. In print and online, SSG encourages the celebration of all shapes and forms of wave riding by offering a platform which shares the motivational stories of women in the surf industry.

We live in increasingly crazy times and now, perhaps more than ever, it’s time to .

This year’s IWD theme focuses on accelerating gender equality by ensuring fair, inclusive, and accessible systems for all women and girls across the globe - regardless of colour, race or religion.

In a world that increasingly seeks to divide us, let’s look beyond our differences and focus instead on what unites us.

It’s so hard to find the words to express how I feel about what’s happened at Bondi - something like this is unimaginable here in Australia, it just doesn’t seem real.
So I don’t know what to say or how to feel. I’m not going to offer meaningless platitudes.
What I do know, is that there are people who will use this horrible event for their own purposes. They’ll use it to create further division and hatred.
I urge every single person reading this to stop, to not buy into that, to realise that hatred grows where we allow it.
Far too many of us have allowed hate to flourish (I’m looking at people like you - you can take responsibility in part for this. You have contributed to the deaths of these families. So too everyone who buys into the anti-immigration Australia-first bu****it we’re importing from the US).
What we can do, and again, what I urge you all to do in the face of this bloody senseless, preventable tragedy is to come together as a community and a country.
We are stronger together. So check in on your neighbours, make new friends, support businesses that are owned by newer Australians, those who speak a language other than English and those who aren’t Christian.
The most powerful thing we can do as a response to this is to build a stronger, more tolerant, inclusive and united country for us all.
That’s the Australia I believe in.

One of my favourite things about surfing is how it allows my mind to empty of all my other thoughts/worries/obligations and I can be fully I. The moment. Just me and the wave.

Ciebo, a new film about women, surfing and activism in Ecuador is premiering April 8th in Sydney, before a global release (if it’s not showing near you, ask you local independent cinema to screen it!).

I was watching an episode of Ted Lasso recently and was reminded that there is no such thing as a person. All we can do is to keep moving toward ‘better’.
