MOTIVATION MONDAY 💫👇🏼

If you’re on a journey and you see subtle changes, please believe that’s a great thing! Our bodies change month by month (especially women) as well as the scales.

This transformation is exactly 2 years apart! Roughly the same weight, minimal changes compared to some I’ve seen online but how great I feel in this current moment in time is what matters. Plus, if I managed to achieve this physique in weeks or even months, it just wouldn’t be sustainable. You don’t want to have to cut or bulk for a long time, you want to go through different phases of body shapes which is NORMAL.

What you don’t see is how disciplined, strong and mentally healthy I am now compared to the girl on the left.

If you are struggling to see or feel your progress for the first few months, I promise you, if you make it a lifestyle instead of something temporary, watch yourself flourish 🥳

MENSTRUAL CYCLE x TRAINING 🌺

As most of you know, I suffer with PCOS which can really affect my cycle. There are some days where I am my best self, super motivated, happy etc.. and then there are days where I literally can’t even stomach a workout (& that’s without my period).

Most of us women have different experiences with our cycles and not all cycles are the same from month to month. I put a poll on my story asking whether or not women’s cycle effect their training and a shocking 62 said yes; so I know you are going to find this useful.

Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will ✨

Many people want to get to places quickly with hardly doing any of the work to get there. Whether it be a job or a fitness goal.

What some people don’t realise is that getting there quick isn’t the answer. You won’t learn, you won’t grow, you eventually won’t be happy.

I’d be lying if I said my journey was linear but it wasn’t. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve failed in my workouts, my eating habits, my business ideas etc.. but not once did I doubt myself. Yes I may have gotten frustrated along the way and wanted to quit but I didn’t. Since then I’ve grown as a woman, I’ve developed so much knowledge along the way, I’ve found myself as a person and the change in my body was just the bonus.

So next time you compare yourself to someone and you think “eh, I wouldn’t be able to do that or achieve that”. Think again huns.

That’s my word of wisdom for today ❤️🤙🏼

Mandy’s journey with me has just been absolutely incredible. No matter what exercises or challenges I give Mandy, she will do them no matter what and her hard work is definitely paying off.

There are no restrictions in her diet, or making her do endless amounts of cardio.

SELF LOVE ✨

The other morning I saw a young lady put a , no make up selfie on her grid and I particularly noticed one comment saying “omg babe you’re so brave”. I mean this could have been a friend, family member.. who knows. Regardless, this isn’t brave because this is who I am.

I actually don’t wear make up out (unless it’s a special occasion) so most have seen me like this anyway but for some reason, I am always using a filter on my stories. There hasn’t been enough reality on Instagram so here’s my reality. Bare faced.

Let’s normalise this and not call it “brave”. ❤️

Ps.. I may probably use a filter from time to time out of habit but just know this is what I look like 😂

As it’s Monday, let’s discuss “motivation”.

I get many dm’s asking how I stay motivated but in my personal opinion.. motivation is the wrong word and relying on motivation is what’s going to cause set backs.

Why?

When thinking about motivation, you are asking yourself to rely on something or someone (or both) to motivate you. Whether it be motivational quotes, pictures or perhaps only doing certain things because of an individual (i.e going to the gym with a buddy and never yourself). I mean.. there is nothing wrong with those things but like I said, they can cause set backs.
For years I used to save random girls pics and put it as my screensaver so it would push me to go to the gym because I wanted that body or I’d put motivational quotes on my background to push me but I was never actually motivated.. it made me unhappy. It didn’t teach me anything.

I like to use the term DISCIPLINE. Along with people asking how I stick to my training programme, I also get asked how I wake up to early to go to the gym. I have no choice - for me to squeeze a workout in I have to go at that time due to work. I have DISCIPLINED myself to stick to a routine and make it happen. There are days where it doesn’t go to plan but that’s ok. It’s not lack of motivation or lack of discipline when I fall off, that’s just me being human.

So here is one of my progress pics for you to not gain motivation but to ask yourself “how can I find my inner discipline to achieve my goals?”

QUALIFIED PT & PILATES INSTRUCTOR 🎉

Having started my Personal Training course just before lockdown, it has been an overwhelming journey with a few adjustments and delays and endless back and forth with emails. After all of the hard work it is now official!

This time three years ago, I also passed my Level 3 Pilates Qualification AND this time 2 years ago, I launched Monrose Pilates.

I’m incredibly grateful to those who have supported my business and for those who have helped me get as far as I have now. I’ve turned my passion into a career and it can only up from here!

Here’s to a future Monrose Fitness + Pilates🥂
