⚽️ Morton Thistle Girls U10s – New Players Wanted! ⚽️

We're looking for girls born in 2015, 2016, or 2017 to join our fantastic team!

Whether your child is new to football or already has experience, we'd love to welcome them along to our training sessions. Our qualified coaches focus on developing skills, building confidence, making friends, and most importantly, having fun.

Today we went along to the Eric Bennet Memorial Festival. As always a fantastically well run festival

The weather held out for us in the morning and it was quite hot and muggy for the team. They started off pretty slow (early rise this morning) but once the sleepiness wore off we saw what the girls could do.

They worked so hard against some well drilled teams Auchinleck Talbot, Cumnock Juniors, ultimate Soccer, Kilbirnie and Johnstone Burgh and all though they were up against it they continued to work.

We saw some strong challenging, great passing and some really good goals today.

We were tight for numbers so Archie stepped up for the girls a played a blinder in goals. Although Archie is normally a winger he certainly showed a different ability today and had some fantastic saves.

Well done all you make it all worth while.

Cora and Lydia were banging in the goals today so they both received the award for best goal. Well done girls

Today we couldn’t pick just one player of the day so decided on 2- Aubrae what a performance today. She covered every blade of grass and she never stopped the full festival. She was strong and determined and very consistent. Never complains and just enjoys her football

Archie gave a real good performance between the sticks today. Some of the saves he produced were nothing more than sublime. For someone who doesn’t play as a goalie normally you would never have known.

A big thanks to Rob, always the girls biggest fan and the girls appreciated all you do for them thanks pal 🙏

Today the girls headed to Lochmaben to participate in a girls festival hosted by Soccer Bees. It was a fantastic day to play football with the sun shining 🌞.

We had 4 well-contested games against some strong teams, playing Heston Rovers Football Club Girls x2, the hosts, and Langholm Girls Football Club thanks for the fair games guys!

The girls played absolutely fabulous today! There isn't much else to say other than they worked incredibly as a team with their passing, talking, assisting and goal scoring and saving!

The players of the day today go to Ariana and Fearne.

Ariana played superb today. She played CM in all games but scored 5 goals across the games ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽. She also was strong in the middle with shutting down her opponents with strong battling and determination, well done Ariana!

Fearne was magnificent in defence today. She tackled with intent 💪, covered, blocked shots and her distribution from back was top notch. Taking a good first touch, getting her head up and playing passes to build attacks. Well done Fearne!

Although we picked 2 POTD, it could have literally gone to anybody today so everyone should be super proud of themselves!

Well done everyone for showing what Morton Girls can do!

Massive thanks to coach Scott for stepping onto the sidelines and helping Louise out today. They even managed to not fall out 😉 😂

The girls travelled to the annual Heston Rovers Football Club festival today, thanks for the invite the kids had a great time!

Thankfully the weather held out for us today for some good playing conditions, unfortunately we faced some very tough competition today but the girls played very well and held their own with some good talking, tackling and some excellent runs. Well done girls! We were especially pleased to see the shielding and jockeying that we've been working on at training being implemented in the games today!

Coaches today were also handing out fair play awards in each game. Congratulations to the girls who got themselves one of them, we always pride ourselves on our sportsmanship so we're very proud of you! ⚽

Our players of the day today also happened to be the Captains, there was some excellent play from the three of you so well done to:

Aubrae

Also well done to both Alice and Isla who took on a new roll today playing both outfield and in goals.

Today the girls enjoyed a kick about along side our friends MTJ 2017’s and 2016 boys against Annan, Heston and Threave. The girls held their own against some real tough opponents. We picked players of the game from each of the 6 games and each girl deserved the recognition

Game 3 Cora
Game 4 Lydia
Game 5 Ariana
Game 6 Isla

All of the girls today put in real effort with some good strong pressing passing and goals.

We also chose a player of the festival. This girl covered every blade of grass. Her defensive performance, and long bursting runs were a joy to watch. This choice was an easy one, Fearne well done your hard work for the team doesn’t go unnoticed

Unfortunately Maia had to leave early because she was feeling unwell, we hope you are feeling better. Thanks to our stand in goalies Iona, Lydia and Isla

Massive thanks to Rob for helping on the touchline today. Your support and encouragement goes a long way.

The girls travelled to Blairmount Park today to participate in the 23rd Annual Galloway Thistle Festival. Thanks so much to the hosts for the invite and to all the officials and young referees for all their hard work making the festival run smoothly.

We faced games today against Greystone, Heston, Galloway girls and Galloway boys and our very own Morton Thistle Juniors 2017s. Thanks for the fair games the girls had great fun.

The performance today started off strong with some good talking between the girls and some strong defending. There were also some excellent balls played and some cracking saves as well as fab goals scored (even if they were toe punts 😉). The scores didn't reflect the play today and we are proud of you all! 🙌

Massive well done to the player of the day Isla. Isla showed complete determination today and had no fear when getting stuck into tackles and worked well in defence. Keep it up Isla! ⚽

The girls did that well today they managed to bankrupt their parents at the ice cream van😂 😂 🍦 well deserved.

⚽️ WHAT A DAY FOR GIRLS FOOTBALL! ⚽️

Huge thanks to all 12 teams who travelled from across the region and beyond to join our festival today. You all made it a day to remember!

We couldn’t have asked for better weather—the sunshine was out in full force ☀️ which matched the energy on the pitch. We saw it all today: excellent passing, intense pressing, fantastic goals, and some world-class saves! Most importantly, the teamwork and fair play from every single club was exactly what we want to see in the game. 🤝

A massive shoutout to our own squad:

First of all, you all played absolutely fantastically and you should all be super proud of yourselves for the display today! We are very proud coaches and I'm sure your parents are just as proud!

🙌 A huge thank you to Ione and Melodie for stepping in to help us out—your support meant we could field two full teams today!
🏆 And a massive well done to our Players of the Day, Ariana and Mia! You both put in a shift to be proud of! 🌟

A massive thank you to all our parents, team helper Rob. Lochlan and boycie who all helped set up, set down, and to every one who helped to do the stall today either by baking or taking a turn manning the stall! ⭐

It’s been a fantastic day of girls' football all round. Seeing the talent in D&G and beyond continue to grow makes all the hard work worth it.
