🏑 THORNBURY HOCKEY CLUB AGM – WE NEED YOU! 🏑

Yes, we know. “AGM” sounds about as exciting as defending short corners in the rain… but this one matters.

Like any good hockey club, we rely on teamwork — not just on the pitch, but behind the scenes too. Our club only keeps running because people turn up, support each other and give a bit of their time to help things happen behind the scenes. The AGM is where we make decisions, plan the future of the club and ensure hockey thrives in Thornbury next season.

You don’t need to volunteer for 47 jobs or give a speech worthy of Parliament — just showing up makes a huge difference. And you don’t need to be a hockey expert to come along — parents, supporters and volunteers are just as important to the club’s future.

Plus:

✅ You can have opinions
✅ You can hear what’s happening at the club
✅ You can help shape next season
✅ There may even be crisps

There will also be end of season awards, celebrating senior league players and contributions from across the club.

Without members getting involved, clubs like ours struggle to survive. So please come along, support the club, and help keep the hockey going in Thornbury.

Whether you’re on the pitch every week or mainly on the side line with a flask and a lift home to organise — we’d love to see you there.

Saturday was far from ideal, but the team worked so hard all game. Plenty of chances created throughout the game and the score line doesn’t reflect the game, but being down on numbers we were always up against it. Thanks to Gwent for lending us a player. A joint photo with both teams to end the season! 🎉

It’s been a pleasure being captain of this club over the past couple of seasons. We’ve had some ups and downs. You’ve all played with a smile on your face through out and put the work in every game. Good luck to everyone for the future!

Terrific work everyone. A result that reflected your efforts, it was only because their keeper was their best player that it wasn’t a much bigger scoreline. Our penalty corners are looking sharper each game, and we got the first goal from there, well done Amelia.

With most of the play in our half especially in the second half, it was only a matter of time before the next one came along. Excellent moving the ball out of defence by Zoe followed by quick passing up the line to a perfectly positioned Beth then to Iris to Beth and back to Iris to slot it in. A lovely fast end-to-end team goal.

👏🏻 Big thanks to Austin for umpiring for us today - a first league game done in style. Thanks also to PJ for supporting him.

Finally a big thank you to everyone on this team for being such super hockey players and lovely people all season. Although this was the last game, there’s loads to look forward to from here.

And… enormous loads of good luck to everyone heading into exams soon. The end of that marathon is nearly in sight.

THC 3-2 WOTTON

Today was outstanding on every level, after a difficult first half the team really pulled it together nicely, with maximum effort levels across the pitch. We had 3 well-worked goals, with the 3rd goal being favourite of the season! Everyone handled themselves well against a physical team and let the hockey do the talking.

All of the younger members of the team handled themselves brilliantly, read the game well, and played a massive part in why we won 🙌🏼.

All our teams continue to be plagued by injuries, but we've managed to scrape together some teams (just!)
Ready to play some hockey in the sun for a change!

Head down to Castle to support our Ladies 2s from 10AM, followed by the Men at 11.30.

Or, if you fancy a jaunt over to Bradley Stoke in the afternoon, head over to BSCS to support our Ladies 1s!
