🟠 Tees FC Reserves Gunned Down by Thornaby Nash Saturdays! ⚫
Following last week’s defeat, despite a decent shift from the lads, we knew we needed a reaction — and what better way than by progressing in the cup! 🏆
We made the trip to the Southlands Hub to face Tees FC Reserves of the Wearside League, and from the first whistle the lads came flying out of the blocks.
We dominated the ball, created chance after chance and eventually got our reward.
Harvey Rowland picked the ball up on the left and split the centre-half and full-back with a fantastic pass into the channel for Alex Seddon. Alex forced his way into the box before cutting it back for Joel Henderson to open the scoring.
1-0 Nash!
Then came a very similar pattern. Alex Seddon once again found Joel Hendo inside the box and the Fox made no mistake.
2-0 Nash!
Joel must have slipped Seddon a brown envelope before kick-off because, once again, Alex found Hendo in the box — and Joel completed his first-half hat-trick with a clever finish! 🦊🔥
3-0 Nash!
This time Joel returned the favour.
A clever free-kick routine saw Ali B play short to Joel, who laid it off to Seddon. Alex then fired a brilliant effort into the bottom corner from outside the box.
4-0 Nash!
Before the game we spoke about Scotty Williams breaking the lines from centre midfield, and after some excellent possession, the centre-midfield union came into full flow.
Mo Waked drifted across to the left and picked out Scotty’s forward run into the box, where Scotty headed across the keeper.
5-0 Nash!
👏 A special mention to the back four of Harvey Rowland, Conor Bagan, Kurtis Crockett and Jack James, who were outstanding both on the ball and defensively.
Half Time: 5-0
We made a number of changes at the break, with Graham Gibson, JayJay, Jake Winter, Colin Leadbeater and others all getting minutes.
We took our foot off the gas slightly early in the second half and conceded, making it 5-1.
From there, though, the lads understood the job — control the game, manage the occasion and see it through. And that’s exactly what they did.
Then came a brilliant moment late on.
A Brad Wilson free-kick found Colin Leadbeater one-on-one inside the box, and at just 17 years old, Col calmly finished to score his first goal in men’s football! ⚽👏
Col came to us as a 16-year-old at the beginning of the season, and seeing him now earning his place and making his mark in senior football is exactly what this club is all about. 🧡🖤
