Myton House Farm FC (9) vs Lingfield AFC(1)
Match Report 📄 - The second league game of the season saw Myton verses the Lingfield, two unbeaten teams at Mytons home pitch, Sunday 17th September.
Myton had to make some changes and fielded a strong squad against a much fancied Lingfield team who they faced last season in the Stockton league. It wasn’t long before Tom P assisted KD who opened the scoring with a 25 yard rasping drive low and into the corner, 1-0 with 6 minutes gone. Myton dominated and some intricate play from Pick set up Tyler to make it 2-0 in the 14th minute with a close range effort. Myton continued to dominate all over the pitch and KD turned into provider with a back header for Pick to volley home from 12 yards out 3-0. After missing several chances last week Tyler got into scoring mode again after POM, Ben Parker, set him up from the right to make it four on 30 mins. Ben P had an impressive game on the right and completely owned his side of the pitch, well deserved Person of the Match. Jack Walton took aim with a 25 yard shot which the keeper did well to push wide. Myton’s fifth came from a Pick assist and KD claimed his second of the game. Half time 5-0 to Myton.
The break saw Matty May come off injured and replaced by Kez M with Clarky moving into Centre Back and partner Rob. Memories of Roundel were fresh in the mind as Myton went into the second half, and that was not going to be repeated. Myton started quick with Kez M having and instant impact setting up Candles for his first of the game 6-0. KD had an opportunity to make his hat trick however blasted high when the goal was beckoning, after a hard working game he was replaced by Joe Emmerson. Jack Walton deserves a big mention with a commanding display in midfield, not only breaking up play but delivering some intelligent balls and almost getting on the scoresheet with a trademark 30 yard drive just missing the target.
Dom Wheatley joined the fray replacing the hard working Tom P at left back and almost made an instant impact with a quality cross for Joe E to tap in from six yards, unlucky for Joe these are often the hardest to finish , and the ball sailed over the bar, pitch to blame….! It wasn’t long until Joe E was on the scoresheet , as all good strikers do, they make themselves available , Kez M found him after his shot was parried and Joe tapped in 7-0. Kez M has been in great form this season, so it’s only right that we skim over the number of chances he missed, another day he would have had 5.
Around 60 mins Myton win a penne , Clarky taking on the captains responsibility , promptly bringing out a super save by their keeper, next time he won’t miss. Pick then set up POM Ben P for his goal of the game 8-0 just before being replaced by Jamie M , Sonny R replaces two goal Tyler. We then have a period of less intensity and let Lingfield have some ball time, the reliable Azza, has a wardrobe malfunction slips over and gifts the ball to Lingfield, a cross comes over and they head home 8-1 (new boots for Azza please!). Stung by this normal service was resumed and a delightful inswinging corner from Kez M saw Joe E head home into an empty net, keeper nowhere to be seen.
There was so much action that I am bound to have missed some out, man to man notable highlights for the starting eleven include -
KD tackling back from the front
Rob, calm and vocal at the back
Matty May, playing with one eye
Tyler, getting on the scoresheet after missing a dozen last week
Jack, very close to POM again
Candles, cool and intelligent on the ball
Pick, lively, skilful and confident
Tom P, dynamic and energetic
Clarky, adaptable and versatile , always available
Ben P, was POM couldn’t handle him on his side, pace and trickery
Azza , good vocals not too much to do, just needs new boots
All the subs played their parts, Joe E bagging two, Kez M will score plenty next time, Sonny was assured in his floating role, Jamie and Wheats showing seamless transitions when coming on. Everyone to a man owned todays game and should take a great deal of confidence into next week verses Eston Labour Club. UTM!
