Well the last weekend of April was pure joy for our walkers on both the Friday and Saturday sessions with fantastic weather to top off two fabulous routes.
Friday took the group through the very beautiful bluebell woods bordering parts of the golf course in Atherstone and Mancetter, a lovely natural, tranquil route combining some canal towpath, manicured golfing fairways and hilly woodland filled with the perfume from the bluebells.
Saturday's walk took advantage of the annual opening of the Merevale Estate for the public to enjoy bluebells smothering the open land, woods, hillside and lakeside.
The chance to see inside this spectacular estate is much enjoyed by all who visit, being enhanced each spring by the amazing carpet of bluebells. The hall itself stands very proudly on the hilltop overlooking it's estate with an air of enigmatic mystery and intreague, quietly defending the privacy ages.
Although popular and well attended, it was still very peaceful and a pleasure to walk round with the obligatory coffee and homemade cake stop in the warm sunshine before leaving the estate. The group then returned by footpaths crossing open fields to the starting point at Baddesley.
The weekend was truly a magnificent festival of bluebells π€©
