Well the last weekend of April was pure joy for our walkers on both the Friday and Saturday sessions with fantastic weather to top off two fabulous routes.

Friday took the group through the very beautiful bluebell woods bordering parts of the golf course in Atherstone and Mancetter, a lovely natural, tranquil route combining some canal towpath, manicured golfing fairways and hilly woodland filled with the perfume from the bluebells.

Saturday's walk took advantage of the annual opening of the Merevale Estate for the public to enjoy bluebells smothering the open land, woods, hillside and lakeside.
The chance to see inside this spectacular estate is much enjoyed by all who visit, being enhanced each spring by the amazing carpet of bluebells. The hall itself stands very proudly on the hilltop overlooking it's estate with an air of enigmatic mystery and intreague, quietly defending the privacy ages.

Although popular and well attended, it was still very peaceful and a pleasure to walk round with the obligatory coffee and homemade cake stop in the warm sunshine before leaving the estate. The group then returned by footpaths crossing open fields to the starting point at Baddesley.

The weekend was truly a magnificent festival of bluebells 🀩

On Friday last weekend our walkers enjoyed a lovely route around Kingsbury Waterpark lakes and woodland trails. It was so very peaceful with abundant waterfowl and birdlife to observe. The wild flowers were all adding lots of colour and interest with a touch of learning to boot!
The Saturday group enjoyed the spectacular bluebell woods close to Atherstone and some lovely fresh Cowslips. The bluebells and whitebells are such a treasured feature of this area and our walkers love to revisit, never tiring of their beauty and fragrance year after year.
This woodland has so much to offer throughout the seasons but Spring has to be everyone's favourite!
The routes for Friday and Saturday of the forthcoming weekend are already in the planning stages and we look forward to welcoming our walkers to share some more bluebell woods plus a privileged peek into the stunning Merevale Estate. Not to be missed!

Last Friday's walk was filled with "W"'s

Wonderful walking; Woodpecker hammering; wild violets; warm sunshine; woolly sheep and ending with wide smiles 😁

All enjoyed a lovely route taking in the canal towpath, ancient and historic Ambion wood and Bosworth battle site. The parkland is part of the Shenton Estate - and there we saw expectant ewes taking a well-earned rest!

Shenton station was originally built at Uppingham in Leicestershire but was reconstructed brick by brick in this beautiful and tranquil location. It now houses a glass-blowing studio and gift shop - how about that for diversity?

Sadly we were unable to run the Saturday walk this week but next weekend should see both Friday and Saturday walks take place.
We will be busy selecting and preparing two lovely routes for our walkers to come and enjoy, relax and exercise alongside like-minded people.
Hope to see you 😍

Monday is our favourite day of the week! It is the day we host our Nordic Walking for Parkinson's Group with the most exceptional group of men and their families.

We walk, we talk, we giggle, we practice our technique, balance and coordination. To finish we enjoy hot refreshments and cake.

For our walkers, they love the opportunity to be active and meet like minded souls keen to improve their quality of life by challenging the progressive symptoms of Parkinson's.

For our volunteers, it is the opportunity to make a difference, to revel in the joy and improvements they bring to others.

If you know someone who would benefit from this fantastic session, please share.

What a fabulous walk!! The holiday season is in full swing and whilst our numbers may be down, there was no lack of effort and enthusiasm at our walks on Friday and Saturday.

Both walks were hosted from Baddesley Ensor and our intrepid explorers ventured over field and trail paths to experience the historical delights of this wonderful village.

The focus of our session was building strength in our arms and shoulders with a smattering of single arm drills amongst a very social walk.

If you fancy learning how to Nordic Walk, why not drop send an email to [email protected] or drop us a message. We would love to meet you.
