Hello Everyone ,

As part of our continued commitment to making sport accessible to everyone in our community, MP Sports Development Trust, MP Cricket Academy, and MP Sports are delighted to be hosting a Free Cricket Kit Day.

📅 Date: Saturday 25th April 2026
⏰ Time: 10:00am – 5:00pm
📍 Location: MP Sports Shop (Container in the car park), C-4 Station Yard, Thame, OX9 3UH

We believe that every child and family should have the opportunity to enjoy sport, regardless of financial barriers. As part of this, we will be giving away free second-hand (recycled) cricket kit, helping to reduce waste while supporting our community.

This is not new equipment, but a great range of good-quality, reusable items including bats, pads, gloves, helmets, cricket shoes, and thigh pads—all available to take free of charge. You are welcome to take as much as you need.

This initiative is all about making cricket more accessible, encouraging participation, and giving unused kit a second life within our community.

We look forward to seeing you there and continuing to support local sport in Thame.

Dates: 13th & 14th March
Ages: 8–14 years (Years 5–9)
Cost: Free of charge

This year’s competitions include:
• Badminton Competition - 13th of March (6:30pm - 8:00pm)
• Diving Catches and Water Running Competition - 14th of March (1:00pm - 2:00 pm)

Our aim is to provide young people with the opportunity to stay active, build confidence, and enjoy sport in a fun and supportive environment.

FREE Winter Cricket Coaching for Ages 5–9 (Jan–Mar 2026)
MP Sports Development Trust & MP Sports Cricket Academy is proud to announce our Soft Ball Winter Nets programme for children aged 5–9 (school years 1–4). This initiative is completely free of charge, to help young players develop their skills in a supportive environment.
Details: Location: Lord Williams Lower School Indoor Sports Hall, Queen’s Rd, Thame, OX9 3NQ
Time: Sundays, 1:00–2:00pm age 5-9. Soft ball only
Hard ball Cricket for age 10 -14 Time 2:00 -4:00 pm
Dress code: All children must wear appropriate indoor, non-marking footwear, shorts or trousers, and a MP Cricket Academy T-shirt
What we offer:
High-quality coaching from ECB-qualified coaches (Levels 2–3)

Safe, fun sessions designed to build skills and confidence

Use of indoor nets, bowling machines, and training equipment

This programme is designed to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to stay active, engaged, and get ready for the cricket season.

We have two lovely Volunteers who have been helping us at the MP Sports Development Trust and MP Cricket Academy, by watering our English Willow trees.
We just wanted to give a massive shout out to Jenny and Gareth for their incredible continuous support by looking after 150 English Willow trees!
As these are young trees they need to be constantly watered and looked after and these two have done some amazing work to help keep them up to date despite the incredible weather.
So once again thank you to Gareth and Jenny!

On Sunday the 6th of July we had our Under 11s Cricket Festival, run by MP Sports Development Trust and MP Cricket Academy.
We had 4 teams take part across our two grounds and they played a 100 ball competition. In the end Slough cricket Club won the competition, however everyone played brilliantly, everyone received a medal and the winners got a trophy.
The summer Holidays are just around the corner but cricket doesn't stop then, join our Summer Holiday Cricket courses today!
