Temple Sowerby CC is located in the heart of Cumbria, we play our Cricket on the edge of the village in beautiful surroundings at the Thunderdome. A big Saturday ahead for Temple Sowerby Cricket Club as both teams are in action!

The 1st XI travel to take on Cleator 2nd XI, while the 2nd XI are at home welcoming Caldbeck 2nd XI to Temple Sowerby.

Good luck to captains Mike Swindle and David Bellas, and to all the players representing the club this weekend. We look forward to seeing plenty of support both at home and on the road.

Defeat on the road for our 2nd XI at Nunwick

A tough afternoon for the lads against a strong Nunwick side, which included the mighty Mike Carrick, TSCC’s Under-11 coach.

The result may not have gone our way, but it was another good day of cricket and plenty of effort from the team throughout.

🏏 Senior Match Week Round-Up
1st XI – Back-to-Back Wins at the Thunderdome!

🌟 Winning the toss and electing to bowl, Temple Sowerby put in a disciplined display to dismiss Lanercost 2nd XI for 111. Mike Swindle led the attack with 3-30, while Joe Reay and Danny Grainger picked up two wickets apiece.

The chase wasn’t all plain sailing, with the side slipping to 35-4, but James Farmer (31*) and Danny Grainger (33*) showed great composure to steady the ship. They guided us to 112-4, securing victory with an unbeaten partnership. A strong all-round team performance and another well-earned win at the Thunderdome.

🏏 2nd XI @ Scotby – Youth Development the Priority

Captain Dave Bellas won the toss and elected to field first. He named a squad with no less than 5 juniors included, underlining our commitment to bringing young players through. Our youthful bowling attack worked hard to restrict the home side as much as possible. Zac Cleminson and Ollie Grainger – both from our junior structure – took 2 wickets each, alongside Nick Lane who also claimed 2. Scotby finished their innings on 218-6 from 40 overs.

In reply, we reached 115-9. Tom Gaskell, in only his second ever senior game, top scored with an excellent unbeaten 62.

We lost by 103 runs, but the progress shown is a real positive this season and is building a solid foundation for years to come. Great experience gained all round.

Another big weekend of cricket awaits, with both sides in action and ready for the challenge.

The 1st XI host Lanercost 2nd XI, while the 2nd XI make the trip to Scotby. Two strong line-ups have been selected, and everyone will be looking to make their mark.
