Match Report
Shropshire Lions 2 – 5 Allscott Heath
It was a beautiful day for Sunday football, with the sun shining and both sides ready for the contest.
Allscott Heath’s manager opted to stick with last week’s formation, making only minor adjustments due to a few absentees. The decision paid off early, as Allscott quickly established control of the game. Their dominance was evident in their passing, consistently winning first balls and reacting sharply to second balls across the pitch.
The breakthrough came just two minutes in. Forward Breezy applied excellent high pressure, winning the ball back from the Shropshire Lions goalkeeper before calmly slotting it past her to give Allscott an early lead.
Allscott doubled their advantage in the six minute following a well-delivered free kick from Kiera. Breezy was once again in the right place at the right time, finishing confidently to make it 2–0.
Just a minute later, the visitors struck again. Franci delivered a superb cross from the right, and Darcie marked her first touch of the game with a composed finish, putting Allscott firmly in control at 3–0.
The fourth goal arrived in the 34th minute, with Franci continuing to impress down the right wing. Another dangerous delivery found the captain at the back post, who—celebrating her 40th birthday this week—clinched her first goal of the season to round off a dominant first-half display.
Half-time: Shropshire Lions 0 – 4 Allscott Heath
Shropshire Lions came out stronger in the second half, making a change in goal and increasing the tempo, which made for a more entertaining half than the first.
However, Allscott extended their lead just two minutes after the restart. Franci produced a brilliant solo run down the right, beating multiple defenders before unleashing a worldie of a strike from a wide position outside the 18 yard box to make it 5–0.
To their credit, Shropshire Lions continued to push forward. Their persistence paid off in the 64th minute when Allscott failed to clear a corner, allowing the hosts to pull a goal back.
The Lions grabbed a second in the 78th minute, capitalising on a long ball over the top of the defence. Their striker timed her run perfectly and finished well to make it 5–2.
Despite late pressure, Allscott remained composed, defending resolutely and continuing to threaten on the counter-attack. Strong tackles and disciplined organisation ensured they saw the game out comfortably.
Full-time: Shropshire Lions 2 – 5 Allscott Heath
This was an excellent all-round team performance from Allscott Heath. A solid and well-organised defence provided the foundation, while the midfield worked tirelessly in both attack and defence never giving up. Our forward was clinical, taking their chances effectively.
Allscott will look to carry this momentum into their next fixture.
Well done girls!
This week’s Player of the Match goes to none other than our number 23, Franci.
Last season’s Captain’s Award winner showed exactly why she earned that recognition, delivering another outstanding performance. Known for her versatility, Franci once again proved her value to the team—this time operating on the right wing, where she was simply relentless.
She put in a tremendous shift, making countless runs down the flank, delivering dangerous crosses into the box, and confidently taking on multiple defenders. Her efforts were rewarded with key assists and a truly exceptional goal—one that could easily be considered goal of the game, if not the season.
Franci’s impact wasn’t limited to attacking play; she worked tirelessly in defence as well, tracking back and contributing whenever needed. Her work rate, determination, and commitment to the team never go unnoticed.
A hugely valuable player, Franci continues to set the standard with her energy and drive. Week in, week out, she gives everything—and this performance was no exception.
