🏆South West XCC Short Track - Regional Championships 🏆

Yesterday Dartmoor Velo XC Race Team took on the the tough course at Wheal Jane, fighting it out over three races, for the SW XCC champs.

It was a great day of racing and team spirit, although very hot.

A special mention to coach Rich who completed the first race, to then give up his own ‘chances of victory’ to fix Rosie’s bike, enabling her to race. 👍 I’m not sure how gutted he was that he couldn’t continue in the heat 😂

Today 5 Dartmoor Velo riders (and Dads) took on the challenge of the Dartmoor Classic.
Freddie U, James and Gabe took on the Piccolo challenge (46 miles and 3650ft of climbing)
James finished within the timeframe to receive a 🥇 and was 3rd finisher in U18 category
Freddie and Gabe both finished with 🥈
Sam and Bryony took on the Medio (66.6 miles and 6000ft of climbing)
Sam finished with a 🥇and was the first U18M to finish
Bryony finished with a 🥇 and was the first U18F to finish, she also got the QOM.

Congratulations to all of them for successfully completing their ride on such a hot 🔥🥵 day!

Most exciting news - Dartmoor Velo won the inter club cup!!! 🎉

Thanks to Mid Devon Cycling Club for a brilliant and very well organised event. Nearly 1300 riders!

British Cycling National Cross Country Series Round 4 at Pippingford Park.
Another busy weekend of racing for our national racers!
This was a new venue to most of us, and it was a fantastic course.
Congratulations in the XCO today to:

It was great to see more SW racers at this race, looking forward to the inter regionals at the next one!

🌧️ What a difference 2 weeks makes 🌧️

The 4 riders who bathed in the sunshine of round 3 a couple weeks ago, all made the longest trip of the series to Somerset to race the Panaracer GP.

A downpour on the sighting lap ment riders were drenched, although the rain mainly held off for the race. A brutal start / finish straight headwind made for a tough flat course.

Under 12’s, the green train dominated the peloton, until about half way though when Freddie made an attack, only pulling one Mainly Flyer with him, who he later out sprinted to take 2nd. James and Gabe broke free and worked well together to come across the line in 4th and 5th respectively.

Under 10’s, a group of four went off the front, including Harrison and three Wheal Velocity riders. Two Wheal Velocity riders attacked and rode away to take 1st and 2nd. Harrison and Elwood from Wheal Velocity then worked well together to make sure they were not caught by those behind. It came down to a sprint finish for 3rd, with Harrison just pipping Elwood by half a wheel.
