IRONMAN TALLINN - 5th Full distance | 10:04
After my previous two Ironmans ended in the medical tent, Tallinn was about doing things differently.
πββοΈ Swim easy. No heroics, no wasted energy.
π΄ββοΈ Bike controlled. Keep the ego in check and stick to the plan.
π Fuel. Fuel. Fuel. Start early, stay on top of it and give the run a chance. Plus 2 complete stops in personal needs for real food
πββοΈ Then race the marathon.
And it worked.
A 3:22 marathon to finish in 10:04 β agonisingly close to that sub-10, but probably one of the best-executed Ironmans Iβve done.
Thereβs always the temptation in an Ironman to chase time from the start. This one was a reminder that sometimes the fastest way to the finish line is to spend the first 7 hours deliberately holding yourself back.
Crossed the line running, stayed on my feet, and ran straight past the medical tent. π
10:04. 3:22 marathon. No IV.
Iβll take that.
Sub-10 thoughβ¦ weβre going to have to talk about those four minutes. π
