‘Two out of three ain’t bad’ 💪🏏

Well, in the words of Meatloaf, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad, and this weekend has hopefully kick-started our senior men’s league campaigns.

🔵 1st XI secured their first win of the season with a convincing 118-run victory at North Perrott. Arun Chenchu (59) and Solly Woodall put on a crucial 93-run partnership before Matt Pike blasted 49 from just 28 balls to help us reach 223 all out.

In reply, North Perrott never got going, with Solly Woodall producing outstanding figures of 8-1-4-15 and Liam Redrup taking 3 wickets as the hosts were bowled out well short.

🏆 1st XI PoM: Matt Pike

🔵 2nd XI bounced back in style with a dominant 10-wicket win over Ilton. Tight bowling restricted the visitors to 178-8, with Jake Heaton impressing during the middle overs on his way to earning Player of the Match.

Openers Simon Manley (74*) and Dan Trapnell (96*) then made light work of the chase, seeing the side home without losing a wicket.

🔵 3rd XI continue to battle hard despite a difficult start to the season. Stoke St Gregory posted 267-7, with Shaaban Aslam the pick of the bowlers. Chasing 268, the side showed great character to reach 181, led by a fine 67 from Monappa Poornesh.

𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤, 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝟑 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬

With the 1st XI picking up their first win of the season on Monday night, attention now refocuses to our league campaign where we are looking to get a notch in the win column as our 1s travel to North Perrott Cricket Club.

Elsewhere our 2s host Ilton Cricket Club looking to re-find some form in the league after a heavy defeat last week. Our 3s travel to Stoke St Gregory looking to start a platform for the season.

Our ladies got their first softball win of the season beating Wellington in T20 Luff Division South on Sunday.

T. Hubbard scoring 50* and skipper O. Morgan scoring 41*.

Defending 121 from 20 overs, the ladies managed to restrict Wellington to 96/5 from their 20 overs, delivering the ladies sections first win of the season.

First XI player Oscar Coleman is currently captaining the 2nd XI at Taunton Vale today in the Second XI Championship vs Gloucestershire.

Oscar hit a fine 97 from 88 deliveries including ten 4’s and five 6’s.

He’s also picked up 2 crucial wickets in the Gloucestershire first innings including this fine c&b.

Both our 1st and 2nd XI’s are in Baker Cup action this evening.

Our ones travel to Trull CC in their first game of the Baker Cup
Our twos travel to Staplegrove CC in the Davies Bishop strand of the cup after being knocked out to Ashbrittle in the previous round.

Good luck fellas, all games got underway at 18:15 (sorry for the delay, Admin is dealing with JetLag slightly).

This week is national volunteer week and we just wanted to say a big thank you to all those behind the scenes that make Taunton Cricket Club keep ticking.

From our coaches, to the parents, to our scorers & caterers, as well as our committee who all do so much behind the scenes to allow us to turn up on a game day and play, this post is for you all.

A service of celebration will be held at King’s College Chapel, South Road, Taunton, TA1 3LA, on Saturday 6th June at 1.30pm.
