Taking Action.
Many of us have big hopes and dreams of the goals that we want in life. But, one thing that prevents many of us from actually achieving those goals is the lack of consistent action.
When it comes to taking action, a lot of the time we end up with no idea where to start ... or in a constant state of procrastination, where we know what we need to do but instead we find ourselves ruminating in feelings of hopelessness, self doubt, fear and anxiety.
This is because we are often looking at the biggest goal we have and thinking... well how the hell am I going to get there. And we either don’t do anything at all and say “I’ll start tomorrow or next week” ... or we end up throwing a million tasks at ourselves, which is ultimately a recipe for disaster as it’s asking too much.
The way that we change this is the break our goals down into smaller achievable chunks i.e. 12 months, 6 months, 3 months, 1 month and 1 week. Working backwards and breaking it down allows us to process the goal, give us a structure and feel more at ease with how we are going to get there.
From here we need to review our week before it has started, ideally on a Sunday and
thinking of the things that would like to achieve that week. Listing the actions in priority order. Then each day write down on your to do list 1-3 actions (working backwards from most to least of a priority).
If you don’t get all of what you expected to achieve on one day, don’t stress just reevaluate and add it onto the day after.
This proceeds is great, because each day we are visually seeing ourselves accomplish the things we know we need to in order to achieve our goals. This internally makes us feel good about ourselves and more likely to continue.
Repeat this process each week and watch as those goals start to become a reality.
