A tough day for us on the Severn Valley Stages.

Despite nursing a damaged gearbox mount all morning, we still managed to set some strong times among the Rally2 cars. No easy task considering we hadn’t done the recce.

The whole Macwhirter Motorsport team were on hand at service to get the issue resolved for us, and after 2 more stages we held a comfortable lead of over 1 minute in our class. Unfortunately on the final stage we got caught out in the tricky conditions and rolled. Thankfully Aled and I were fine. Apologies to both cars behind us for blocking the stage, luckily I managed to get the car moving so the stage could stay live, but there was too much damage for us to carry on.

As a small team on a limited budget, this is definitely a big setback, and I’m not sure how we stand on getting her repaired in time for the next round.

Rally week is finally here 👌🏼

Things have been pretty quiet for me over the past few months on the rallying front, but it feels great to be back and getting ready to go again for the Severn Valley Stages this weekend.

This year we’ll be taking on the Pirelli Welsh Rally Championship once more, alongside selected rounds of the British Rally Championship National class.

This season wouldn’t be possible without the support of my amazing sponsors — I’m hugely grateful for everything they do.

Aled will be back alongside me for the ride, and with only a few days to go until our first event of the season, we’re ready to get started.

Pirelli Welsh Rally Championship Class W13 Winners 🏆

And with that our 2025 season comes to a close!

Although we didn’t finish the last round, the Wyedean Rally due to a broken gearbox mount, I still enjoyed every second learning the famously tricky stages of the Forest of Dean.

And what a season it’s been! We’ve had some really good results and overcome some big challenges! Unfortunately we didn’t finish the last 2 events of the season, but at least most of the hard work had been done by then!

To have won the championship overall was never going to be easy given the competition in the well driven, much higher specced Rally2 cars at the top! But at least Aled and I gave it a good go! We finished 3rd overall in the Welsh Championship and achieved my goal for this season, winning our class 💪🏼

None of this season would have been at all possible without all of my sponsors, and of course the support from family and friends! So thank you to everyone involved behind the scenes for making it all happen!

I’m not sure yet what lies ahead for us next season, another shot at the Welsh title maybe? We’ll see!

The Cambrian Rally didn’t go our way this year unfortunately.

We were having a fast clean run through stage 2, but around half way in I clipped a concrete post, blowing the tyre off the rim which then sent us into a bale. Unfortunately we lost too much time changing the wheel and assessing damage. We managed to set good times through the next 2 stages, but at service we decided it would be impossible to better our championship position and we made the decision to retire early, just to save the car and what’s left of the budget to focus on the Wyedean Stages Rally.

To say I’m gutted is an understatement, so much prep work had gone into this rally, we really wanted to get a strong result for the Pirelli Welsh Rally Championship. I can’t thank Jez Macwhirter enough for all his hard work making sure the car would be ready for us, sorry I didn’t get the result to reflect all the hard work!

I just want to say a huge thank you to all my sponsors and supporters, without you I wouldn’t be able to even get to the start line which can be a massive achievement in itself on occasions! We will put this one behind us, and go again in 2 weeks time!

Another strong result in the bag for Aled and I at the Phil Price Memorial Woodpecker Rally.

We finished 6th overall in the Interclub rally and took 1st in class 🏆

The conditions were tricky, but I loved every second behind the wheel. There’s still more pace to come and a few areas to fine-tune, so hopefully we can build on that before the next round!

Really nice to get back in the car with Aled after a long break, although it was probably one of the hottest rallies I’ve done! Making sure we had plenty of fluids and managing tyres was key to a good result!

We had a relatively fault free rally, apart from early on in stage 4 we clipped a fallen tree on the inside of a fast right. We were lucky to get away with just a smashed windscreen (along with a face full of glass!) The boys at Macwhirter Motorsport, along with Andrew Davies and a few others were straight on the ball! They managed to catch the local builders merchants in Builth wells just before closing for a sheet of Perspex! We arrived at service, and within 30 mins the screen was looking as good as new, even managed to get a new Pirelli sun-strip fitted! Thumbs up from the scrutineer and we were good to go. The teamwork from all of these boys is just awesome, and I can’t thank them all enough for what they do 💪🏼

It’s the Nicky Grist Stages this weekend! We’ve had a nice break since the last rally and hopefully we don’t take too long to get back into the swing of things!

It’s set to be a scorcher, and I can’t wait to get back out some of my local stages!

A really enjoyable, hot and dusty day in the car for Aled and I on Saturday. Even though we suffered a puncture on stage 1, we set some good times amongst the rally 2 cars around us all day, also bagging some good points for the Pirelli Welsh Rally Championship!
