⚠️ HONESTY ALERT ⚠️
At the start of the year I set myself a goal to get a 200% bodyweight Deadlift (somewhere around 136kg), with my current 1 rep max being 100kg.
We’re almost at the end of the year, and I know I will not achieve this goal. And rather than beating myself up about it, I’ve accepted it and am okay with it.
My training this year has not been very consistent and my motivation has been wavering a lot, for various reasons. There seems to be an expectation that as a Personal Trainer, you should be training daily, eating perfectly and being super strong and super fit ... well, ‼️breaking news‼️, us PTs are human too! I know I’ve been fitter, perhaps I’ve been slightly stronger in the past, and my diet has also been better.
What am I doing about it though?! I’ve set myself some short term goals: to get my training back on track and more consistent, short term goal is to consistently train 4 times a week. Food-wise, I’m making better choices and being more conscious of what I’m eating but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy food! I’ve also joined another gym, where I go to get coached, learn new things and push myself and train in a style I’ve never trained before.
So, my goal is still to hit a 200% bodyweight deadlift but for now, the time frame on this is TBC! The focus is on the short term, and enjoying training again! ✌️
