Josie was one of our original graduates from our first course in 2016 and along with Becky Stopford and Kirstyn Chappell she ran her very first parkrun at Kingston on 13th February 2016 just one month after starting her running journey.
We will be at Kingston on Saturday to celebrate the life of Josie who can only be described as a wonderful lady with an wicked sense of humour, someone who will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
Why not join us, you can run, walk, volunteer or simply be there to support but make sure you're wearing pink, Josie loved pink, we will be!
This Saturday, 31st Jan 2026, at our 5K Your Way event, we will be celebrating the life of Josie Bate who died on Tuesday 20th Jan, one year after her diagnosis of terminal brain cancer. We set up Kingston parkrun 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer in her honour.
Josie loved parkrun and was a regular parkrunner and volunteer. She was kind, clever and very funny and that came out in her run reports -https://www.parkrun.org.uk/kingston/news/2023/09/12/kingston-parkrun-eventful-626-9-september-2023/
Josie loved pink so we are encouraging you to join us for one minutes applause to celebrate Josie, at the start line wearing pink.
Remember, 5k Your Way is for everyone — walk, jog, run, cheer, volunteer, or simply join us for a coffee and connect with others who have been impacted by cancer.
Josie will be very much in our hearts.
