Dick of the day: Liam hind for changing his vote to no at 4am leaving us with 11 men today, and Blackstone for that terrible suit he wore yesterday x

For the last time this season the lads were back in action against a Birtley side who were above us in the table. Due to the relentless fixture schedule this being our 4th game in 7 days we were down to the bare 11 today so we knew we were in for a tough game. Kickoff and we started slow clearly leggy and struggled to get into the game as Birtley score 2 early on one a cutback and one a ball over the top 2-0. Drinks break seen us regroup and come out fighting as straight away the workrate increased and we reaped the rewards with Cory slotting Reidy through and him finishing into the near post.2-1. Reidy then should have drew us level but refused to use his left foot and missed the chance. Halftime 2-1.

Second half and the lads were more then in game despite the no subs everyone grafting for eachother. However against the run of play we conceded from a set pice as Cory stood and watched his man header the ball.3-1. Straight away we reacted well and some good play down the right sees Josh Dixon fire a ball into the box which Cory flicks on to Reece at the back post who finishes the move off 3-2. The lads carried on pushing for the equaliser but it wasn’t to be with Cory seeing a freekick saved and reidy having one cleared off the line. Full time 3-2 loss.

Wasn’t to be today for the lads but a performance to be proud of as we definitely deserved something from the game. That wraps up our first season as a club positives to take from it and very proud of everyone involved for making it happen. Now for a well deserved break and we will be back next season aiming for even more. 🟠⚫️

We were second best today and East Herrington just wanted it more. We conceded two in the first half and one in the second. Our goal came from Dylan Bulmer winning a free kick for Cory to whip in and Josh was first to it to header it off the opposition defender and in (definitely an OG).

Fair play to East Herrington for showing up when we didn’t and we look forward to seeing what you have to say in the comments🤣

Dick of the day: faultless on the pitch today from the lads so dick of the day goes to Tomas for his terrible crack in the group chat before the match and his grip socks with individual toes in them x

Quick start by the lads today in a game we knew was gunna be tough, Josh plays a ball over the top 5 mins in which Tomas hits on the half volley early catching the keeper out and looping over him 1-0. Seaham fought back and some quick play sees a lad free on the edge who finds the bottom corner 1-1. The lads reacted well and a change back to 433 seen us become more dominant and some good pressing from Reidy sees him win it high on the left get to byline and play it across to Grayson who gets infront of his man and finishes into the near post 2-1. The long ball was causing us problems with the sun playing a major part and long ball sees a mixup at the back and them scoring a header from the edge of the box 2-2. Next however long shot straight at Evan proves too much for him as he drops it straight into his own net (dodgy keeper?).3-2. However a great response to going behind sees some lovely football out from the back working it down the left to Reidy who beats his man and finds Grayson this time at the back post to tap it in. 3-3. Half time.

Second half kicks off with us starting strong again to a man the workrate was there again from everyone. Tomas who grafted all game sees a shot blocked from close range however it falls to Reidy in the box who slices it into the bottom corner. 4-3. Then straight from kickoff Reidy wins it sets dylan love through who’s slots it into the near post. 5-3.
Seaham fought back getting joy again from that long ball sees Evan come out and make a challenge we deemed fair but ref gave a penalty which they converted. 5-4. The lads were under pressure as they had more of the ball however great work by Josh who wins it and releases Reidy over the top who beats the keeper to it and finishes into an empty net. 6-4. With both teams tiring and the weather the game started to open up and they fired back again rounding Evan and finishing into an empty net. 6-5. Not long to go the lads upped the workrate and were rewarded as Cory swings a freekick into the back post where Leon sees a shot blocked straight into his face and lands to Dylan love to finish the game off 7-5. Full time.

Unreal graft from the lads tonight again with a slightly smaller squad than normal can’t fault anyone’s performance. Great to bounce back from 2 defeats with a performance like that 2 games to go this week as we are back in action on Thursday. 🟠⚫️

With 3 games to go and 3 big performances needed as we are keen to end off our first season as a club on a high. The Highwayman 0-3 The Board Inn❌

Dicks of the day: Cory for a unnecessary headloss at his teammates, Blackstone for registering another assist for the wrong team or Evan for leaving us without a keeper as he wanted to go watch a bus x

Sunday was a hard loss to take for us, a small squad missing some key players and positions along with the weather we knew we were gunna be in for a tough game. We started off strong limiting the board inn to little of the ball and playing some great football however we struggled to create a real big opportunity with our best unfortunately falling to Dan who was returning from injury filling in in midfield for us and only lasted until around the 40th min before being forced off with yet another injury.Sick note. The breakthrough came just before halftime against the run of play with us failing to clear and set piece and stand in keeper Reidy unable to dive on the ball it found its way into our goal.1-0. 2 mins later they are on the attack again this time Reidy pulls off a great save down to his right. Halftime.1-0.

Second half seen our levels drop both on the ball and without it understandable with the heat and lack of subs. Early doors though on the counter Reidy who had swapped out of goal with Cory at halftime finds Grayson in the box however their keeper pulls off a great save to deny him. We are then caught out by a ball over the top and their striker shoots early catching Cory off guard (and stood to the right of his goal).2-0. Finally we were trying to play quickly out from a goal kick and unfortunately Blackstone slices his pass straight to their striker who finishes into an empty net.3-0 full time.

A real tough one take as the score doesn’t really reflect the full story with the board inn scoring 3/4 of their chances. On another day with a bigger squad we probably would have got something but credit to the lads considering the circumstances the graft was there and no time to dwell on it as we have 3 more games this week to end the season the next being tomorrow night vs Seaham Redstar another tough game where we will aim to get back to winning ways. 🟠⚫️

Dicks of the day: Suth and Blackstone getting a telling off from the ref for arguing with eachother, and Josh Dixon for a sin bin whilst we were chasing an equalizer whilst racking up 10+ fouls x

Lads started off unbelievably playing some amazing football and the eventual breakthrough came from a free flowing counter attacking move ending with Reece flicking it to Reidy who cuts back and bends one in from range.1-0. Quickly after Reidy has a chance to to double the lead however in normally Reidy fashion he misses the simple chance. After that however the lads levels dropped probably the worst we have played all season and Prior weren’t slow to capitalise scoring 3 sloppy all over the pitch from us.3-1. Halftime.

Second half the levels had to improve and they did however a counter from them seen them extend their lead as our defenders were scared to put a challenge in.4-1.Big push from the lads and Josh’s throw in finds Reidy on the edge who dispatches one into the bottom corner.4-2. Soon after following a set piece DT lifts one over their defence and Reece running on to it smashes it in.4-3. Remontada? Rest of the half was all us however we were unable to make the most of our possession not really creating a clear cut chance. We went down to 10 men with Josh getting his sin bin for dissent and finally last kick of the game the ball has to go forward and Jack bell doing a foul throw backwards and the ref blowing.full time 4-3 loss.

The lads showed great fight in that second half fighting back from 4-1 down however in the end it wasn’t enough. Plenty of positives to take though 4 games left to play and plenty positions to gain in the table. 🟠⚫️

Dick of the day- Cory Lamb for bottling playing against the Spartans, and Sam “the trigger” blackstone for forgetting what team he was playing for getting an assist for the wrong team x

Game started off scrappy as expected with us being unable to get on the ball down and play. DT who was doing a shift in center half for us today, picked the ball up on the halfway line went on a mazy run down the left and put the ball across the box finding Dylan Love who cuts in on his weak foot and finds the top corner.1-0. However some good pressing from the Spartans sees Blackstone get caught on the ball and the Spartans striker slots it in.1-1. Straight after the Spartans took the lead following us being unable to clear a corner.2-1.The game was really scrappy and the standard of football wasn’t where it has been compared to the last few weeks. Next Reidy gets the ball from Dylan on half way drives to the edge beating 3 men cuts in and finds the bottom right corner.2-2. Just before half time some good linkup play from Sam and Reid before Reid plays a great ball inbehind for Tomas to get on the end of and cooly finish. 3-2 halftime.

Second half saw us take up more of the possession however we were just lacking the finish with Reece and Dan on his return from injury coming closest. In the end it was the subs that made the difference Josh Dixon with some great work down the right Grayson like wise on the left wing and finally Liam gets the ball across to Dylan Bulmer who smashes it in sealing all 3 points.4-2.

Not the greatest performance today but the hard graft was there again and on another day we could have scored a few more, no rest tho with 5 games to go in 2 weeks the next being this Tuesday. 🟠⚫️
