We are pleased to announce that, following an impressive eight‑week trial, Jake has officially been offered a two‑year professional contract with Carlisle United.
Jake is a model young professional who is a pleasure to work with. He gives 100% in both training and on matchdays, and fully deserves this fantastic opportunity. He will be hugely missed by his teammates, coaches, and parents at Sunderland West End, but we are incredibly proud of his achievement.
Jake’s final game for Sunderland West End will be the League Cup Final this Saturday, where he will have the chance to finish his journey with the club on the pitch.

⚪🔴 PROUD ANNOUNCEMENT 🔴⚪

Sunderland West End U12s are extremely proud to announce that James Paxton has been officially offered a pre end-of-season 2-year contract with Middlesbrough Football Club.

James has been with the team for just 16 months but has been a vital part of the teams success in winning multiple tournaments and finishing runners up in the league last season. Middlesbrough have kindly allowed James to finish the season of with us.

This is a fantastic achievement and a true reward for James’ hard work, dedication, and commitment, both in training and on matchdays. Everyone at Sunderland West End is immensely proud to see one of our players take this exciting next step in his football journey.

We would like to congratulate James and his family on this well-deserved opportunity and wish him every success as he continues his development with Middlesbrough FC.

The under12s played in the RFYL league cup semi final on Saturday against Blyth Spartans with a point to prove after a disappointing result in the last outing against them. The game plan was a simple one work harder than them and go on the attack and score goals!

The lads settled quickly into the game keeping possession and putting the Blyth defence under pressure, this paid off as Olly burst into the box only to be brought down PENALTY........up steps James to put the ball beyond the keeper and into the net ⚽

With the boys having control over the match dictating the pace of the game it was not long before the second goal and with Olly being the quickest to react in the box to roll the ball over the line after a mix-up with the Blyth defence and keeper⚽ Olly wasn't finished and with some brilliant play from westend from the back to the front and when the ball came to him in the box he slotted the ball into he bottom right hand side of the goal giving the keeper no chance ⚽ With the boys in full flow Luke latched onto a ball that split the Blyth defence and buried the ball into the bottom corner ⚽

HT 4 - 0

The team talk at half time was simple keep doing what we were doing! and straight from the kick-off Blyth gave the ball away, the ball was played to new signing Owen Cunningham on the right hand side who crashed home a low drive from out side the box ⚽for the remaining 25mins SWE continued to dominate the play creating chances, Blyth did get a goal eventually in the last minutes though a long ball pumped forward from the keeper a slip from our defender and the Blyth striker had only the keeper to beat and finished well ⚽

A brilliant team performance👏👏👏 from the lads to put them into the final of the cup which will be played on the 25th April at the Russell Foster Centre 9.00am Kick-off.

We would like to wish the very best of luck to our goalkeeping superstar Jake Nicholson, who has been invited to Carlisle United Football Club for an 8‑week trial.

Jake has been with the team for three seasons, and as coaches we cannot speak highly enough of him. His confidence has grown year after year, and this, combined with his dedication, work ethic, and outstanding ability between the posts, has made him a standout player and a pleasure to coach.

We are incredibly proud of everything Jake has achieved so far, and we have no doubt he will give his all during this exciting opportunity.

A catch up for the U12s during the last few weeks starting with the most recent match on Saturday against Hetton Sampdoria.

With a couple of our lads on holiday and also a couple on trials with NUFC and Carlisle we were short in number with only eight players available, but these boys were up for the challenge and our captain marvel Max Gascoigne stepped up to put the GK jersey on for the team! 🙌🙌

The lads started fast and never let being a man down effect how they wanted to approach the game keeping the ball letting the opposition do the chasing. The lads thought they had went a head within the first 5mins through a James Paxton header but the flag was raised and offside was called. It never took long before our midfield dynamo Ollie Headon hit a quick fire🔥double ⚽⚽ to settle the team down, Ollie thought he had hit his hattrick inside 15mins but the flag was raised for offside again, like a few eyebrows on the call... 🤔

Sampdoria never gave up and got there just rewards moments later with a goal for the away side ⚽ But just before the break Liam Wood found the back of the net ⚽ to take us in at half time at 3-1

The 2nd half the boys came out flying and won a penalty within minutes of the half starting up stepped James to crash home the penner ⚽😎..the boys in full flow now not playing as a team with a player down, and full of confidence midfield maestro Liam took the game by the scruff of the neck and hit a double⚽⚽ one a screamer😱 with the game coming to a close the lads got a couple more goals through James and Liam ⚽⚽ the final whistle blown SWE get the points with an impressive 7-1 win.

Outstanding performance from all of the team each one of them should be proud - The Magnificent 8 🪄

This was a midweek game played in horrific weather conditions, cold, wet and windy! but this did not put the lads off and with another game with players missing went out and did a brilliant job to come away with a 8-1 victory and maximum points.

What a great weekend of football it was for both teams! The under9s impressed again with another fantastic win in the RFYL Prem playing some great football and scoring some brilliant team goals against a well established team in the league.

The under12s had the toughest test in all the quarters against our friends Washington Navy, this would have been more fitting for a cup final as two of the best footballing teams in the league come face to face.

Coaches and players know each other well and the respect was there to see, both teams battling it out on the pitch for that place in the semi finals of the league cup. It was a great game to watch with end to end chances, great saves from both top class keepers who kept the score at 0-0 at 60mins!

PENALTIES it was to decide on the winner.......

After the both teams had scored the opening three penners it was down to sudden death, the Washington Utd player hit a low drive to the bottom right corner but our boyo in the sticks Jakey Nicholson pulled off a fantastic save 🙌

It was SWE player Nico Marshall up next to take......GOAL ⚽ the ball slotted into the bottom right hand side of the net! 😮‍💨

SWE go into the semi finals of the league cup after a thrilling game against the washy lads! what a game well done to both sets of players great game to watch! 👏👏👏

The under12s finally got 2026 underway after four weeks with out a match, with a midweek game under the lights at Ford Hub against a very strong AJX Madrid, it was a battle all the way to the end with the home team having the majority of chances, our no9 Luke Bell got the only goal of the game in the 2nd half linking up with a brilliant ball played through the back line to slot home the winner.

It was a brilliant debut game for our new signing Joe Hugill who was solid at the back and in midfield 💪👏

After the disappointing loss to Blyth Spartans at the end of November 4-3 match result, the lads bounced back two weeks later with an impressive 8-0 win against Harton & Westoe.

Up next for the lads an away trip against Seaburn Juniors on Tuesday night.
