Whitburn Community Bowling Club

Whitburn Community Bowling Club Established in 1964, Whitburn Bowling Cub is located within Cornwaite Park in the picturesque North East, seaside, village of Whitburn.

A mixed club, catering for all ages and abilities including junior members, with two bowling greens offering 12 rinks for flat green bowls. The Greens are open during the bowling season which is April to September. The club opens each weekday between 1pm and 4pm and the public are welcome to come along for causal bowls for as little as £2 per person, per hour, with bowls equipment provided. We are

actively seeking new members to join the club, currently there are approximately 50 members. Affiliated to Bowls Durham, playing in leagues in Sunderland and South tyneside. We are always interested in arranging friendly games with visiting clubs in other districts and would welcome a fixtures with other bowling clubs, each year

The club is seeking to provide a bowls programme to suit all abilities. For experienced bowlers, we offer a competitive programme of leagues and competitions, encompassing all levels of ability, from bowling in national competitions with our top and county players, through to taking part in our leagues, club competitions and inter-club friendly fixtures. Bowls is an especially social and healthy activity for all ages to enjoy, either playing casually with friends or in pleasurable friendly competition. Currently around 50 members and currently play at the club and now the club house is shared with Whitburn Heritage Society who all enjoy the social facilities and social aspect the bowling club enables. New members and visitors are always welcome.

🔵2026 Season Officially Underway at Whitburn Community Bowling Club! 🔵

We were delighted to have our President, Eric Weightman, officially open the greens today at Whitburn Community Bowling Club, marking the start of the 2026 lawn green bowls season!

And what a start it was — his second bowl got the jack… let’s hope that’s set the standard for games to come! 👏

A huge thank you goes to our incredible volunteer members who have worked tirelessly over the winter months to get the greens in top condition — including the fantastic job of replacing the ditch back boards. Your hard work has truly paid off 🌱

The club will be open every weekday from 11am to 3pm, and we’d love to see both familiar faces and new ones come along.

👉 All are welcome to give it a go — your first session is FREE!
(Flat shoes must be worn)

We’ll also be serving a range of light refreshments, including:
☕️ Tea & coffee
🥤 Soft drinks
🥪 Toasties, bacon & sausage butties
🍔 Burgers
🍟 Crisps
🍦 Ice cream cornets & ices
