Stratford Gliding Club is one of the Midlands leading gliding clubs situated just a few miles north of Stratford upon Avon in the heart of the country. A professional operation run by the members for the members, we’re open seven days a week from May until the end of September and on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays during the Winter. Whether you’re a visitor, trainee or an experienced pilot, Stra

tford Gliding Club is a great place to be. Every level of ability is catered for ranging from novices requiring instruction to more experienced pilots who want take advantage of our cross country development week and pundits who fly hundreds of kilometers in a flight. We also run an annual cadet scheme, providing six under 18 year olds with subsidized training and flying for 12 months. We extend a warm welcome to visitors whether they want to drop in to the club to learn more about gliding, take a trial lesson or purchase a trial lesson voucher as a gift for someone special. We also hold corporate and group evenings during the summer for groups of ten people or more. See our website for more information.

It’s taken a little while to get our Fun Flying Week (2-10 August) update together – but what a week it was. It certainly lived up to its name with 8 out 9 days giving us great flying conditions, lots of members on site, numerous achievements and a fabulous buzz about the place.

So congratulations to everyone who achieved milestones this week, first solos, silver legs, cross country endorsements, 100k triangles and more - I’m sorry they were too numerous to mention everyone by name, but you know who you are! We also had cross country coaching, aerobatic sessions and instructor training running alongside our pre solo programme.

Our evenings were busy too with cooling refreshments in the Stick and Rudder and a great choice of hot meals served every night. Thanks to everyone who helped make the week such a success – we’re already thinking about next years event!
