Who needs to go on holiday when you can get a view like this just by taking twelve nuts off😀. I needed to change four of the studs to attach the release bearing spacer which afforded me a sneak peek inside this absolute work of art. Just look at the finish on the bevel gear😘.
We've also had the adapter plate made thanks to Graham Sykes Performance Engineering, which we've now made a small adition to so that we can mount the crank sensor. The recessed mounting gives great protection for the sensor and a guaranteed position should we need to make a quick change.
While I was on a roll, I decided to do a test fit of a few parts to check that everything fits. A bit of a heart in the mouth moment, but thankfully everything looks perfect including the flywheel, clutch and release bearing supplied by TTV Racing Components, and the starter motor from Carwood Brise🤸‍♂️😀. I've also double and triple checked the dimensions for the clutch shaft which i can now draw up and get manufactured.
Things are starting to move on a bit now, so hopefully a few more posts soon.

John Hansell and Andrew Pybus have been busy finishing off the roll structure today. A fantastic job made harder when incorporating a closed cockpit.

This is run-off 2 after a challenging first run-off when we had a diff problem which resulted in no drive and some shrapnel for the scrap man. A good effort by John Hansell had new diff internals installed in time for qualification in wet conditions. We were then quickly into run-off 2 where Simon put in a good run of 115.96sec, 1.45sec ahead of second place. All in all a decent day, and a bit of work to do when we get home.

It's been a while since our last post, but we haven't been idle. We've been doing quite a bit of work on our current car in readiness for next season, if we don't do it now we probably never will. The floor and associated bodywork is all off and being repaired or remade, dampers are being serviced, turbos are being refreshed and upgraded and the diff needs a little tlc.
On the new car front, we're waiting for some maching to be done to make the bellhousing adapter which will hopefully be done in January. I decided I needed to have a go at some smaller machining jobs myself to keep things moving on, so yesterday I took a step out of my comfort zone to have a go at making the front engine mount. It was a bit of a stressful way to spend a Saturday afternoon as we don't do any aluminium machining, but with the correct tooling and a cautious approach, I think I pretty much nailed it, well chuffed.😀

So another year of British Sprint done and in the book. Congratulations to Matt Hillam on a well deserved victory, but congratulations also to Terry Holmes for taking it all the way to the tape with a very sick car. We managed a record on the final run to grab 7th in the championship from John Loudon on countback. Simon put in a good run to come in with a 116.88 for 5th on the day. Looking forward to a day off tomorrow, then time to try and make some good progress with the new build.

So far so good. A successful first run with about a 3 second "burn". Not quite as quick as hoped for, but safe and sound. Graham's thumb slipped off the button at launch, so wasted a bit of precious "burn" time, but still did 85 mph in about 2 seconds, and thats on less than half power🙈. Time to top her back up and hopefully get another run later👍.

Something a little bit different. This is Force of Nature steam powered rocket bike, built and piloted by Graham Sykes preparing for it's first public test run. She's currently sat with 60 litres of water on board at 216⁰C and 30 BAR pressure, almost ready to go.🤞

Sadly not the new car yet, but heres a video sat on the front spltter of the Crono V8 up Doune Hillclimb in a time of 43.41 seconds. Not quite a class record but hopefully next year🤞

Not the most important job in the great scheme of things, but still a job that needed doing. I decided to create a nice little space for Simon to keep his sandwiches in😀. Thankfully there's also enough space for a tow loop to be stowed neatly away, and with a marshall friendly cover and release mechanism it makes for a pretty cool solution.

It's been a while, but I've struggled to find much time recently to get any real work done on the V10 build. I have been doing a fair bit of cad work, and we're now pretty much ready to push the button on a few machined parts, which will go some way towards being able to do the first stage of mounting the engine and gearbox. We're also close to getting an approval from MSUK for the ROPS, so will hopefully be able to start getting that fabricated soon. I have managed to find a bit of time in the last couple of weeks to start fitting some parts into the tub. So far, we've got the power steering motor fitted, which went really well, and the dash and seat bulkheads are also bonded in. Next job is to make the mounting for the steering rack, and then we can make a column to suit.

Welcome to the world, a baby girl weighing in at 62kg. Slightly problematic birth, needed a small cut, but all good in the end. A little bit heavier than hoped for but only 4 or 5 kilos over.
